so i have this thing about cocky 4th wall narrative text in videogames. like ex. superhot- when it starts to tease the audience/subject about how they just can't resist it, how they are going to keep doing what the instructions say, i tend to, in a petulant fit of teenager-informed spite, do exactly that and turn it off. the first time this challenge came up here i did do that and tapped out. and then i came back the next day and went through the induction and had the same kind of response ive gotten in stage hypnosis shows before. I couldn't tell how much i was experiencing until the countout. impressed! its a hard thing to do well without having somebody in front of you. thanks for the pleasant experience. will definitely be sending to appreciative friends.

also i had an unrelated breakthrough in my personal schema when reading the yourinductionsucks.fyi overview link. so thanks for the introduction to perspective that heightens my own, as a bonus. appreciate it, as a skeptic who wants to understand.

Yeah... I think a number of us have faced some... situations... in the past where survival instincts kicked in out of a need to protect ourselves.

Trust is a thing that should be earned. An implicit evaluation gifted by the one who trusts (until such time an evaluation decides the gift is to be rescinded). Not a thing that should be coerced -- no matter how indirect.

I suspect the hypnosis effect works on fawn response. You need either a very strong sense of self, or have had much experience self-reflecting and making sense of complex mental hurdles; to be able to see exactly what's going on here.

The tell about this game was the way the narrative changed. It started permissive and freeing, but the element of the 'voice' began taking control of the narrative as instructor rather than facilitator. Big difference. Big big difference.

I'd say more, but the researchers who want to improve hypnosis methods are listening.

I am not really sure what you are trying to say here?

Ok sorry. Nevermind. I thought this game was a research project.

Hypnosis has a history of misuse by some people. My experience should not be your burden.

I think you're projecting something on my message that isn't there, and I wonder if you may have came away from the game with complex feelings abt it that you should work out in your own context. Hypnosis is not a magic tool, it's kind of permissive roleplaying scenario. You can opt out of participating if it makes you uncomfortable, but it's worth exploring why you're curious about the subject without rendering judgement to your internal curiosity. ZONEOUT is a cool work that I really look forward to seeing more of when inspiration strikes. At the very least I'll be returning to when I want to experience it again!
