Hot damn, this module must be fresh squeezed; it has a ton of pulp in it! Loved the idea of the Voyager Record being worshipped, despite not actually being magical, and the whole vibe of the setting from the weird dog to Dr. Kaput’s name. This is a banger, and I’ll be checking out the Enigma system myself sometime soon.

Developer(+1)

I'm totally stealing your fresh squeezed joke, no truer words have ever been spoken lol. Thanks for the kind words! Yeah when it comes to writing Enigma adventures I typically just slam together whatever fun ideas I'd wanna see at the table; Appendix N definitely makes that even easier. Hope you enjoy the system and go on some fun adventures!

You’re welcome to it lol.

Also, I promoted your entry on Bluesky, so hopefully other people find Enigma too!

Developer(+1)

Oh fantastic! I've been off social media for a while now, so I know that hurts my reach for game promotions; I really appreciate the shout out!

Absolutely pulptacular and thematically on point! Maybe it's part of Enigma, but I love the film terminology used to describe locations. Vignettes is also a clever way to succinctly describe the atmosphere and mood of the environment. I see mention of Voyager Golden Disc and I am a happy man. This is a cleverly designed adventure with just enough meat on the bones to make the investigation interesting for a stranded Cast. It makes me want to check out Enigma/Tenebra.

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! Enigma adventures are definitely designed to be easy to run with the scaffold for what you need, but leave plenty of space for emergent storytelling. Yes good catch on the golden disc, had to make everything space time trippy lol. Definitely check out Enigma if you like the pulp/film sort of adventures, I wrote this submission in the same format as the others!

Wow, that' appendix N defined! This could even be a mickey mouse comcs fantasy adventure, or something like that. It's small and smart and perfectly focused. I gues this kind of content is the best promotion of a system like Enigma? i'll check it, definitely

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you see the vision! Yeah Enigma adventures usually lean pretty cartoony, so this jam was a good excuse to combine that with Appendix N. And yes, you caught me, this was a subtle way to promote Enigma; if you like it, let me know!

really enjoyed this the structure made it easy to read and the way the locations were described was really unique at least to me. I felt you gave just enough to get the mind going but there’s plenty of support.  Awesome!!! The cover is great.  And I loved the wide shot questions - like Paint the Scene question from the Gauntlet Games. I love collaborative questions like that to immerse the players.

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah when I was developing Enigma I stole my favorite mechanics from all my favorite games. The Wide Shot questions are straight from paint the scene in Brindlewood Bay. Since Enigma is less about "will the cast win?" and more about "how will the cast win?" it was good to give the players more creative liberty.

Including vignettes at the end is a really great idea, love this ! I also like the way locations are described and appreciate they all include clues to the next steps of the adventures. I'm a bit confused though, in the end what is the great wheel and what power does it have ? Is it just a regular CD/DVD ?

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! Sort of in appendix-n / flash gordon fashion, the great wheel is just the golden lp that was sent out on voyager. It's implied that the daughters take it and use its auspicious landing to take control, but the disc itself has no inherent power (at least as written!)

But just like the vignettes and other parts of the adventure, you can add or remove whatever makes sense. Heck you could get rid of the wheel and replace it with a laser cannon!

I share this sentiment with Forlorn Skulk. Damn, I have to check Enigma out now! I love the atmosphere and the theme in this. It transported me into the old days detective novel of investigation. like . . . Tintin I would say? an adventure in bizzare realm filled with investigation and uncovering dark mysteries/artifacts. It got me really intrigued and I also love the description on each of the places, really evocative! This got the theme for sure!

Developer

Ah! Another fan of beloved franco-belgian comics! Tintin and Blake and Mortimer were the main inspirations for Enigma, and although it morphed into more than just a Tintin ttrpg, it still holds onto those roots. Dastardly villains, comic relief, heroes who always seem to see it through to the end.

Obviously appendix-n is a little different from the era of Tintin, but there were some weird Blake and Mortimer adventures where they go to Atlantis, the future, etc so I felt like I could make it fit. Thank you for the kind words, hope you get to try out Enigma!

Dang now I'm going to have to check out Enigma! I love the colour palette of the cover. Very pulpy and on theme - which goes for the adventure as well.

Developer(+1)

Aha! My tactically funneled adventure worked!

In all seriousness I hope you enjoy it! There wasn't a pulp adventure system I liked so I made it myself lol. Thank you for the kind words!

Well hey it was a good sizzle, but that only matters if the sausage is good. And it was!

This feels extremely Appendix N. I like the way scenes are designed here with the general description, the "wide shot" and then the setpieces. It makes it easier to internalize these locations on a first pass then find relevant descriptions when it would be time to run it. Good work!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you thought the structure was useful! I try to write Enigma adventures with a focus on shared narrative direction, so there's a lot of open ended threads.

This was a unique entry. I can feel the Appendix N DNA, and I like how simple yet effective the whole adventure is! I feel like the experience would be much better when playing it at a table as opposed to just reading. Overall, this was awesome!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! Since the module is native to Enigma, its not a standard dungeon crawl affair; you're right in that it is way more fun at the table than a fun module to read lol.
