My first game went from nobody online to 1,364 browser plays in a month

This is my first game, so I honestly don’t know whether these numbers are objectively impressive or whether I’m simply experiencing proud-parent syndrome.

A few weeks ago, Bitiverse could go days without anyone logging in. I started posting about it, submitting it to game sites, and running a couple of small Reddit advertising tests. I expected a brief spike followed by silence.

Instead, players started building houses, forming guilds, helping newcomers, throwing house parties, and spending hours developing their characters.

Over the last 30 days, itch recorded:

  • 1,364 browser plays
  • 93 downloads
  • 26 collections
  • 7 ratings
  • 3 payments totaling $57

I know browser plays aren’t necessarily unique people, and this is certainly not blockbuster territory. What surprises me most is that after the large traffic spikes passed, the game continued receiving roughly 30–50 browser plays on ordinary days instead of falling back to zero.

Compared with other first-game numbers I’ve seen posted, this feels surprisingly healthy, but I have no previous release to compare it with.

For developers with more itch experience: did a steady baseline like this lead to lasting growth for you, or did it gradually fade? Which number proved most meaningful over time?

The game is Bitiverse, for context:

Congratulations! My (single-player) games usually only have a peak on release when I'm "advertising" (posting in forums).

My last game is playable in browser, and I received way way more views and comments on Newgrounds than itch. Could be luck, because it made it to the front page. But I recommend uploading to newgrounds too, if you haven't. There's more players there than I thought.

for a first game, that is AMAZING. Most devs' first game don't even get a play. Congratulations!!!

Congratulations on those figures – the game really does look brilliant!

Congratulations! Those numbers are impressive, way better than my first (and so far only) game, also free and browser playable.

Nice stats! Still trying to reach 500 plays (499😡)

Now you should have 500! Cool concept, while I only had time to play through the tutorial, I rather enjoyed it. Had some trouble reading whether a block was solid or not in the reality I was in, but I would probably get used to it.
