How does your game fit the theme?
Tectonic Inc. embodies the theme as a "Geological Singularity"—the critical point of no return where cataclysmic events break the rules of human survival. Disasters like supervolcanoes and meteor impacts represent the exact mathematical and physical definition of a singularity: a sudden, infinite spike in chaos and destruction that permanently alters the planet and forces humanity into an unpredictable new reality.

What Game Engine did you use to make this game?
Unity

WE CAUSIN NATURAL DISASTERS WITH THIS ONE!!!

Jokes aside this is really impressive that you made this for a 5-day game jam! I can definitely see potential in this project if you decide to continue updating it after the jam is over. If you do, some things I would considering adding would be more juice like visual damage and a deeper gameplay loop that the tech tree can compliment!

I think I'm impressed on the graphics, but yeah I feel like its been hit with the overscope for the main mechanics.

Thinking what could be done:

I wasn't able to make a comment immediately (even slept) as I needed to think what could I say here, as the main thing I was grasping on was "if I were in the developers' shoes, what was the minimum amount of game to add enough replayability." Because I really see the effort. To do the tectonic mechanic, you need the world map, a way to select each plate, a UI to navigate in the side and being able to touch the world map, being able to set the direction of the plates, and displaying which regions are affected to generate score... It's a lot, and I do empathize why the tech tree was delayed.

Because there is a major inspiration towards Plague Inc., which in there the depth is being able to spread (grow) w/o dealing with events/cure and the tech tree is the main way to navigate towards it, it's interesting on how the game instead focuses on faults, and from there the main engine. The one thing I thought is (suggestion), can this aspect be given more depth, maybe goals to concentrate faults via a multiplier to score at certain faults to be able to navigate and push the tectonic plates in that direction, or anything that uses as much of the existing mechanic you've made so you don't have to do more work. Still I'm uncertain if it would be faster than implementing the heal and tech trees, so I'm not committed to this idea.

I'm just yapping really, it's really difficult for me to think and I still appreciate the game on what it is.

One bug I found:

I think there was a mismatch with the direction I set and the displayed direction on the side...

Still repeating at that paragraph, I mean its a lot of effort in the game music, art, and implementation of mechanics, it just fell off with the replayability aspect, and thats kinda what makes game jams hard that not everything might be added, so which is priority. And even still, the main core of the gameplay loop here is big number go up technically lol, so it does work on that front.

Still, it's nice, and thank you for submitting to the game jam!

Edit: added some stuff

Thank you for the long review :) really appreciate it. I was a bit down very few tried this game, but now it is 8 people! Nice, i guess.

Yeah and all your feedbacks are important for me to improve this game. I want to balance casual and deep in this game. Hope the game will be worthy to be released some day.

The graphics are absolutely amazing—the movement, effects, and so on.

Thank you, good luck for your game too.

It's really cool but lacking engagement, like there was just not a lot to do, it was fun to see the different tectonic plate but after moving a few you just have to wait and that's it.

The globe/map transition was really cool tho

Developer

Definitely need tech tree implemented.

Its hella cool that you have both map and globe, really like how the sound effects were handled, I bet it would be a lot more fun with the tech tree. This reminds me of Plague Inc and those sorts of games XD
Overall W game!!!

Developer

Thank u. I like the sound too. And you are right, this is inspired by Plague Inc, even the name is. Random fact : i put the flat map there because i suddenly remembered my flat earther friend when making this, lol.

Got amased by map-globe transition, summarily a good concept, with tech tree gotta be funnier

Given one more day i would make the environment recover day by day and decrease your total damage.
So you are in a race with other aspect of nature.
And another day for tech tree.
Thank you for playing :)

If you are wondering why nothing happened when you reached 1000 damage, that is on me! I accidentally nested Game Over Panel under Tech Tree Panel in the last build. As you reach 1000 damage, open Tech Tree  Panel. The Game Over Panel will appear above it.

Ah, I wish I had seen your message before I made the max damage and exited the game. Yes, it makes the ending... anticlimactic. The opposite of what it is supposed to be I guess.

Anyways - the game is very high tech. I guess you can think about making it funnier... or maybe that's not the correct word... Let's say - more engaging? I guess it needs some more juice - the seismogram is nice but since the main attention is on the globe that is where the main feedback should be.

I guess the skybox could be made with starts, not clouds - right now it's breaking the immersion.

I learned how interconnected the plates under Australia and Antarctic are. Thank you.

Good luck!

I only managed to make the basic gameplay loop in this 4 day. I swear i will update it further and make the gameplay addicting.
