This was interesting! always enjoy upgrades. I think it would be fun if the upgrades had more progression/did stuff aside from changing stats like changing projectile types or things like that. Fun stuff overall!
Interesting take on the field of play being very horizontal and long. I wish there was a maximize button for a bigger screen and more upgrades, would be really fun with a Nova Drift or Utopia Must Fall kind of upgrade tree. The controls felt good too. I wonder how it'd look with a different color scheme as well. Thematically maybe getting hit could make a yawn sound effect, I guess getting hit would make you less sleepy normally too.. Fun SHMUP!
Thank you, I’m glad you had fun. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to update it to include the full screen. If I am, and especially after the voting period, I’ll add that! I intend to make this a full release with more upgrades, mechanics and possibly a skill tree! I appreciate your feedback! Helps me make a better game.
I liked how polished the game looks! And the core mechanic is great: sleepiness acts as both an accuracy meter and HP, wow!
P.S. Somehow I managed to get stuck in the lower screen border and became a rail cannon - probably a bug.
Thank you for playing and enjoying! Yup, that’s definitely a bug! One to put on my “fix it” list haha
cool spaceship shooter roguelike! the guns were fast and satisfying to use, i like that the right click didnt have a cooldown so you could still use it like a rapid fire if you wanted to click fast!
thank you for playing and I’m glad you enjoyed it! The right click does come with a tradeoff, which is that it increases sleepiness. I didn’t know how else to limit it, I was going to put a cooldown but didn’t specifically for the reason you stated you enjoyed it!
I liked this entry, it has so much potential. The graphics and gameplay are really good and the roguelike stuff helps a lot with replayability. The sound can be improved but it has the needed for a ten days jam. Good job here.
thank you for playing! We intend to make it a full release at some point in the future here. We’re glad you liked it :)
This was very satisfying. I love the juice and the polish, every hit felt amazing. A LOT of little polishes. I loved how animated even the little buttons were, the flickering pause menu. Was there no fullscreen or did I miss it? I would have loved that.
Music and sfx effects felt really good. Loved the roguelike uprades and looking forward to them.
I didn't enable it, I forgot, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to enable it now or if it's against the rules of the jam, but when we do a full release It will definitely be able to be played widescreen. I'm really glad you enjoyed it! We put a lot of work into this! :)
This was a fun game! Nice music and graphics, and an addictive gameplay loop. I've played a lot of games like this and I feel like after wave 30 or so I could have gone on forever and things started to get a little repetitive with no new enemies; I wasn't sure if there was an endgame or not so I stopped after 39 waves. I really liked the moment-to-moment gameplay of trading off when to take a hit to get better positioning, versus when to dodge like mad. I also enjoyed the shooter enemies that give a little bit of that bullet-hell feeling. Sound design was good, though I would have liked a little sound effect when a bullet hits an enemy (not just on death). I thought it felt much better on a gamepad than with the mouse (just my preference for this kind of game), but I don't think there was a gamepad button mapped to the charge shot, and I couldn't figure out how to select things on a menu other than to switch to the mouse.
All-in-all, a really solid entry with a lot to like. Good job!
To be honest, I started testing it on a gamepad, but then stopped because I didn’t know if anyone would use one! For a full release, we’ll have full gamepad support! I agree on the hitting enemies sound effect. There isn’t an endgame unfortunately, but for a full release, I am thinking about what that might look like! Thank you so much for playing and enjoying!
This is a fun game!! Not too difficult, it ramped up pretty nicely, and I can see a lot of potential for additional upgrades. This was a very creative twist on an 'enemies recharge health' mechanic, and fit the theme well. The music and sound design works well and adds a lot to the game, and I really liked the art and the little explosion animation for when enemies died. I'd like to see a full screen button lol, and I think some of the upgrades could use a little bit of balancing (I barely used the charged shot lol), but that is super difficult in a game jam and what you have already feels super polished and impressive. You should be proud. Great work!!
Yeah that was one thing I noticed (of course, right as the deadline approached lol) that the charge shot can be a little pointless. I have plans to do a full release for this, and I have some ways to make the charged shot more useful! Thank you, we are very proud, and it means a lot coming from someone who put out a super great game for this jam too!
Great game! I suck at these styles so I fell asleep alot lol! At first I didnt get the theme of Sleep but then I relized while most of us made the sleeo being a good thing you made it into the death condition and that is super clever! didnt even think about that!
The upgrade system is smooth and even if it took an embarrassing long time before I found out you could move around it was great! Well done!!
the truth is, I’m not amazing at them either! People in the other comments got farther than I (naturally) did! Haha. As long as you have fun, that’s what matters! Yeah, should make it more obvious that WASD is for moving around.
10/10 would pay for this
I would say, keep an eye (pun intended) out for this either here or on Steam, we intend to make this more of a full release! Thank you for playing, we’re glad you enjoyed it!
I can't even find a SINGLE thing that I can complain about in your game, Just a marvellous piece of work! Good work big dawg!🥶👌👌
Don’t gas me up too much haha! Thank you so much, I’m super glad you enjoyed it! I will check your game out later today!
really fun and polished game! i like how the music gets more muffled the sleepier you get, and the variation of enemies kept everything engaging, great job!
Thank you, we're so glad you enjoyed it!
This game was so fun to play! I made it to wave 33 and it got really crazy. Reminded me a lot of Undertale mixed with Asteroids. The movement and bullet hell aspect is done really well. It feels so satisfying to swerve in and out of enemies shots while trying to train enemies to line them up for a big timed shot. Good work on this game!
not gonna lie… I didn’t test the algorithm out that far because I didn’t think anyone would get that far! Lol. I’m really glad you enjoyed it and that the mainframe didn’t self destruct at that wave haha
Nice entry! I noticed that with the right upgrade choices, it seems like you really don't need to use the charge shot, which means you can advance a lot more smoothly through the waves. I got to wave 25 without using the charge shot and used its tradeoffs to upgrade my normal shots instead :)
The ones that grab onto you are scary, and the long ones (idk what they're called) seem to recover a lot of sleep. Nice work on the enemy diversity there
Yeah we caught that very late into playtesting, given more time to work on it, we would have done a lot more balancing. Thank you for playing, and I'm embarrassed to admit this, but you got a lot farther than I got (organically) lol
Really enjoyed this! The first thing I thought of as I was reading the premise was the player will be experiencing hallucinations, or something along the lines of that, in the gameplay to make it more difficult, so I was a bit disappointed. I do have to admit I only reached wave 10 so maybe the interesting parts are further down?
However, I did enjoy the rest of the gameplay, the usage of the sound effect and also the art too. Good job on this!
I was thinking about adding hallucinations and stuff in, but we simply ran out of time unfortunately. We had to kind of rethink everything when the game designer quit like 3 days in. I’m very glad you enjoyed the gameplay! It means a lot! :)
