Hi! :)

The minimalist art, lighting, and cute monsters look fantastic. Even without music, the popping sound effects are super satisfying and really add to the vibe! :D

The upgrade loop is very fun.

Overall, a wonderfully polished and addictive core loop. Great job!

Wish you all the best and good luck!

I'm really glad you liked it! Thank you so much for the feedback and kind words!

Good luck to you as well!

Cool visuals, I wish there were more stuffs in this game, got so much things in my mind.

Developer

Thanks! There's definitely room for more content. Maybe i'll come back to it some day.

This is a lot of fun, a very polished and balanced game! The visuals are so simple but they are so nice, that rotation, those  nightmare animations, the little camera shifts - a pleasure to look at! The soundeffects are nice, and at first i was a little sad that there's no music, but then i got so focused on the game, now i think that the lack of music actually works - it adds up to the imersion that you're a kid in bed unable to sleep, and the night is quiet. Amasing game!

Thank you!

I didn't really think about the silence in the game that way, but now that you mention it, I can see what you mean. I'm glad it ended up adding to the atmosphere.

Graphically, this game hits all the right notes for me.  Minimalist but just oozing style.  Lots of visual flair: squashy monsters, particle effects when you kill one, the lighting effect, the subtle camera move to point where the light is facing, the little isometric faux-3D spin of the protag, the screenshake.  This is a really stylish game, and very polished visually.  Plus, the monsters are really cute :)

The gameplay loop itself is very fun, but for me it really lagged in the endgame; after the first couple of minutes I never felt like I was in danger, so I could be pretty lazy because I could vaporize enemies really quickly.  Unfortunately this led to a lot of waiting.  The upgrades are really nicely chosen and they feel very powerful, but I think one thing I would suggest would be to scale the challenge with those upgrades; with each one, I think what you're chasing is that it feels powerful for a little bit so you get that sense of progression, but then the challenge grows to put the player back on edge.  For me, even moreso than monster variety, I would really crank up the spawn rate (and/or the creeps' movement speed) over time (or a little while after each upgrade) so that even though you're getting stronger, you still have to really keep on the edge of your seat.  I feel like if there had been a kill counter and things ratcheted up a bit more, I would definitely have kept coming back over and over again.

But again, the core loop here is really nice.  In its current form, I played for around 25 minutes, but I feel like with a couple of small tweaks to ramp up the difficulty it could have sucked me in even more.

All-in-all, a really solid jam entry.  Nice work :)

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked it that much!

I honestly didn't expect people to play it more than 5 minutes, so the difficulty doesn't really change after that point. Still, you have a good point, the progression and balancing could use some work.

And thanks for such detailed feedback and pointing out performance issues in the endgame! It's really useful to hear what could be improved.

Really great job, this is very fun! It was cool as new enemies were introduced!! (:

Thank you! I was going for a Vampire Survivors-style progression, so I'm glad you liked it!

AMAZING GAME MAN! there is nothing I could point out that was bad. Although I did wish I knew when I was hitting the enemies since there isn't much feedback ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ But beyond that; MARVELOUS.

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you liked it!

And that's a great point about feedback! I didn't really think about it during development, but it would definitely be a nice addition.

This is a very nice game but after the 232/232 upgrade I didn't get any options to upgrade so the game was permanently frozen.

Developer

Thanks! I'll look into this after the voting period ends!

Liked it a lot, do wish there was a bit more regarding enemies because more then 2 minutes and it gets a tad stale. Also the bug where you hover over the player was pretty glaring. Overall super solid and I enjoyed it.

Thanks!

More enemies would definitely make the game more interesting, especially after a few minutes of playing.

And thank you for pointing out the flashlight bug. I'll try to fix it later!

phenomenal artstyle and gameplay, this worked out so good! sfx sounds nice, wished there was bgm or at least some ambience noise. Great job!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you liked it! Background music or ambient sounds would definitely benefit the game!

Really cool game! LOVE the sound when the nightmares pop, so satisfying for some reason. A few more upgrades and enemy types and this would be stellar! Well done, thanks for making and sharing it :)

Developer

Thank you!

I'm glad you liked the sound! It's actually the first time I've tried making sounds myself, so i'm really happy it turned out well!

And I definitely agree about the enemies and upgrades. Having more variety would make the game more interesting. Coming up with new ideas and then implementing them is the hardest part though.

This is a cool game. I like being able to upgrade. I found a bug though if you put your mouse in your player your flashlight flashes like crazy! It also would have been nice to have a main menu though. it is really fun either way though

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you had fun!

I actually tried to fix the flashlight bug, but couldn't figure out how to make it feel smooth. I'll try to fix it at some point!

I decided not to add a main menu since it's a web build. I wanted players to get straight to action. But I agree, it would definitely make the game feel more polished.
