What an overwhelming start, there were so much going on I was so confused, I even misled myself into thinking that I must reverse in the first level, because it said "reach the gate behind you". Took some times to figure out how to pass the first level, the next level was so surprising, the different camera view and controls, then the next two with different looks, such mixed experiences.
Very cool game! I liked how each level switched it up by letting you access a different dimension/direction of movement. I am historically pretty bad a bullet-hell games but I did manage to beat this and without any upgrades (mostly because I didn't know they were there until after reading the comments). I think level 1 was probably the hardest level because of the lack of forward and back control. Ironically, level 3 is the same but at a different angle but didn't feel as punishing. Maybe I had gotten more used to it by then. Level 2 I think was the most unique and definitely surprised me when all of the sudden I was moving through 3D space. I do wish the theme was incorporated a bit more into the gameplay. Maybe it's just cause I missed the upgrades which I do see have it some. I REALLY like the idea of sleep being a rare resource in the future and an economy is established around it. That is a super cool and unique idea and I'd love to see more of that. The art was very cool and retro which fit the limitations of the jam but also the tone/style of the game. And the whole experience was very polished, I didn't run into any bugs to hiccups. Well done! Thanks for making and sharing it :)
Neat concept, but it was kinda overwhelming? I kept crashing into ships and a bunch of things happened, but I don't feel like I know what I'm doing still.
Clean UI and visuals though!
Liked the palette swap options. Felt weird not being able to move up or down and felt like I was just running into enemies a lot before I could shoot them (most definitely a skill issue on my part), and the music during the nyx part got repetitive. Cool how you got a leaderboard up and running!
For an easier experience:
UI polish, art, & effects are very beautiful. I feel the enemy projectiles should differentiate better from the starry background, and most importantly i can't seem to be able to use the whole bottom half of the playing screen, which is a pain (and prob a skill issue).
This was very fun to play, I liked the swaps in palette to show the changes in what was happening! Nice job! :D
highly polished and creative, love how each section has its own gimmick camera angle and how the gameplay changes to match it! also, the idea of unlocking different palettes made me replay it a few times. ironically i found the first stage way too hard, and the final stage way too easy since the boss only took around 1 flatline to defeat. i also thought the 150 nyx requirement per stage was way too high, and the upgrades were too expensive to be properly used. the bullet density was also a bit unforgiving, i think it's a bit hard for another player to appreciate all the hard work you put into the amazing enemy variations if there's bullets everywhere. it also means there's little strategy to avoiding the bullets and using the dodge since you're kind of just praying nothing hits you in the endless barrage of bullets. with that said though, you did a great job with the visuals! i feel like with some proper balancing, this game could be amazing.
Great and proper feedback. Thanks for giving it a real playthrough! Still number one on the leaderboards :)
So sorry, I should have made it easier from the start as a default along with making the enemies go down one-shot maybe. It's supposed to be the easy level that unlocks the other three levels that all feature different style space shooters with Star Fox, Zaxxon and Asteroid inspirations, along with diving into the Sleep Mechanics, and the dozens of One Bit Color Palettes to unlock.
Instead no one even past the first level so far :(
Thanks to all for playing
I died so many times, but like the guy below me, I didn't figure out I could shoot until 2nd life. I thought I had to keep my allies alive to do it. Good Job Dev
I should have set auto fire to on :) thanks
you could have left the controls on for longer, i did my first run without even shooting xD didn't really get what the intended gameplay was, when i was slowing down i was dying faster, shooting other ships was hard but i guess that's the objective, if so maybe they are a bit too hard, an dthe projectiles are so small i couldn't dodge them properly. otherwise cool visuals and sound design ! ggs
