The game was cool and had a really unique concept compared to the other games I played. It was really good! I finished the game then i got my movement in the sky , that was really cool! Keep it up!

YOOO, THIS ONE IS ACTUALLY REALLY FUN! πŸͺβœ¨

I really liked the simple, playful feel of STARTHREAD. The idea of moving through the stars and literally drawing constellations with your own trajectory is such a cool way to use the theme. The movement feels smooth too, and the slingshot around the stars/suns was especially satisfying. πŸ˜„

Also, the font + UI look really clean and give the game its own personality. It’s simple, but it works really well for this kind of space experience.

One thing I’d love to see is some chill background music. The SFX are nice, but a soft space soundtrack could make the whole thing feel even more atmospheric. 🎧🌌 And maybe a little more visual feedback when creating a constellation would make those moments feel even more rewarding.

Overall, really nice and polished jam entry. I enjoyed playing it a lot, and I’m definitely giving this a top rating from me! πŸ†

GGs and congrats! And bro, if you have some free time, please play my game too and leave me a review — I’d really appreciate it and it would mean a lot! ❀️

Good luck with the jam! ✨

Really appreciate this. I’m happy the movement and constellation drawing worked for you because that was the main thing I wanted to get right. I kept the soundtrack very restrained on purpose but I can see why some chill music would help the atmosphere. The extra feedback on completed constellations is a good point too. I’ll check out your game as well and leave some feedback there. Thanks again for playing and good luck in the jam.

Really liked the visuals and the moving star felt really satisfying. One thing i found lacking is some chill bgm during the gameplay.  Great work overall!

I like the game's concept of creating constellations, and I think it's quite unique. Also, the UI looks pretty good.

We loved the idea for this game! It is super satisfying and cool how the constellation path stayed. The style and vibes are also cool and I like the font used. We are SUPER curious on how you used HTML to make this game! As new game devs who only use Godot (haha) we want to know why you choose HTML and how you used it! Do you think it was the best choice for your game? Thank you!

Developer

Thank you so much. I’m really glad you liked it. I chose HTML because I’m very familiar with it and I knew I could work much faster with it during a jam. I also put a lot of time and effort into the game so using something I already knew well let me spend more time polishing the movement and visuals and overall feel instead of learning a new engine. Most of the game is JavaScript and Canvas. The movement physics and stars and trails and effects and UI are all made through code. For this kind of focused 2D game I think HTML was a really good choice. Godot would probably make more sense for something much bigger or more complex. I also really liked seeing how far I could push one HTML file.

Gameplay 3/5 - The curving of the star felt very smooth and slingshoting around suns was satisfying.  Unfortunately it lacked a real objective as far as I could tell.  Am I trying to get all the stars as fast as I can?  With the shortest trail? With the nicest looking trail?

Creativity 3/5 - Drawing constellations comes up a lot in this jam but it's cool having to do it without stopping and using the environment to change the curve/velocity.

Art Style 3/5 - It looks a bit plain but nice.

Audio 2/5 - The sound effects were good but sparse.  The lack of music was a bit disappointing.

Theme 4/5 - It's definitely about stars and constellations.

Developer

Thanks for the detailed feedback. I think there may have been a bit of a misunderstanding about the objective so I would really appreciate it if you reconsidered the rating after knowing how the game works. There are actually two game modes. In the first mode the main idea is freedom and creativity. You can simply enjoy flying and draw whatever shapes and paths you like through the stars. The score is there for players who want an extra challenge because it measures how efficient and optimized your route was. So you can focus on making a beautiful constellation or try to perfect your path. In the second mode the objective is completely different. You have to survive for as long as possible and earn the highest score you can. I was also a little surprised by the 3 out of 5 for creativity because the idea is not just drawing constellations. You are constantly moving and using gravity and slingshots around suns to physically shape your trajectory. About the audio I intentionally kept it very minimal because the game takes place in space and I felt that the sound of silence worked really well for the atmosphere and made the individual effects stand out more. Thanks again for playing and for taking the time to write such detailed feedback.

I don't know....

Its second game that is 99% created by AI and maybe it has a little bit of human touch to it. Yea sure it looks cool but at the same time I quickly get detached from it.

And it's weird how looks of it and description is very similar to "Starglass" by bosniakk....

"Roughly how much time did you spend developing? (in hours)
83.2142"
...?

Developer

83.2142 is actually intentional lol. I like stupidly precise numbers and I thought puting the excact number instead of "around 80" would stand out. Apparently it did just maybe not in the way I expected. And yes I used AI while making the game. Ive never tried to hide that. But saying it's "99% AI with maybe a little human touch" just because you recognize a certain look is honestly a pretty unfair assumption. You can say the visuals feel AI-made,  you can dislike the game completely that's all fair feedback. But telling someone how much of their own game they actually made, how much effort they put into it, or how much they cared about it when you simply don't know that is a different thing. I spent a lot of time on this project because I genuinely wanted to make something I liked. AI was a tool I used during that process, not a measurement of how much I cared about the result. As for Starglass , I can't speak for other people's games. I can only tell you how I made mine. So criticism of the game is completely fine. I just think the "99% AI, little human touch" part goes beyond criticizing the game and starts making assumptions about the person behind it.

Thank you! I’m really glad you enjoyed both modes. The endless one is my favorite too. I thought about adding music but I liked the quiet space atmosphere. I still get your point though. Some subtle music could make it even better.

Bro I have a few positive ocmments for this game. First, obviously the idea is very cool. I particularly loved how you're able to "Draw" in the sky with your trajectory and I found the slingshot move really great to feel. Love it!! Great work

Developer

Thanks bro. Im really glad you liked the idea. Drawing in the sky with your own trajectory was one of the main things I wanted to make fun. Im also really happy you liked the slingshot. Thanks for playing

Developer(+1)

Thanks bro  Im really glad you enjoyed both modes. I wanted the game to be easy to pick up but I could have pushed the challenge a bit more. Thanks for playing and for the feedback
