Themes
Not really. Gotta Go Fast fits but to be honest this was an idea I already wanted to try, regardless!

Tooling
I used Godot. I'm not unfamiliar with Godot, but this was actually my first 2D game using it!

Cool little game! Music and sound are nice.
I guess this is inspired by "We Will Reclaim" from the previous jam, and this one is a nice spin on that idea.
My only complaint is control scheme. Traversing the map is a pain and in arrows minigame you ironically can't use arrow keys.

Absolutely, I loved We Will Reclaim. But I also have wanted to make a similar game for a long time, and when I saw that game last year it was very much an inspiring "Oh that's what it'd look like" moment! :)

I definitely didn't execute the concept as well as that. I even downscoped my own idea a lot. I wanted something A: a little more Warioware-esque where it both shows you one thing and tells you one thing and you have to reconcile that quickly, and B: something more to do with troop movements and tactics (while still being a fast paced minigame). Neither of those goals made it in.

And yeah the overworld map is probably slightly too large-scale. I think even shrinking the points-of-interest down to 2 tiles rather than 3, and bringing them all closer together would allow for 4-direction movement.

Lots of fun! The minigames could probably use some difficulty tuning: I didn’t win the dodging game even once, but I never lost any of the other games.

Cool! It reminds me a little od WarioWare!

Fun little mini games and well polished!

Really well made.  I love the sprites and the map screen.  It's a neat idea to have the mini games spread across different battles and they were really fun, I just wanted more of them!

Nice little game, even if I’m not usually the mini-game type! The variety of mini-games is fun and the low difficulty makes it super chill, though the soothing music didn’t quite put me in a medieval war mood! :P A quick heads-up on a few bugs: the controls list WASD/Cursor, but arrow keys didn’t work in the arrow mini-game for me, Enter acts as Space, and the starting city always defaults to “city name” on initial load. Nice entry overall!

Developer

Thank you! I didn't want it to be difficult, but I certainly wanted more minigames. I went with the music because; a) didn't want to spend too long sourcing music (or want to drag a musician in), b) it contrasted well with the minigame music. I liked the sudden change. Yeah I think the Arrow Drop minigame, because it was the first, still had the quick and dirty controls implemented in it, rather than the proper actions, my bad as I was mainly using WASD myself. I didn't even spot the city name bug either, haha. Thanks for playing.

I love the minigames, reminds me of the four second frenzy

Developer

Thank you. I had quite a few ideas for minigames, including a battering ram one and a jousting one, I also would have liked some army-commanding sort of minigames but that quickly seemed to be a bit ambitious!
