I love this idea, and the spritework is incredibly charming. The jump is perhaps a smidge floaty? There were times when I jumped and then noticed myself waiting to land. I think I would have really loved a checkpoint system, too, rather than having to start from the start again on a death, but that's maybe a me thing! Regardless, well done!

Thanks for comment! Our jump system is not ideal. We will take your observation into account to improve it. What about checkpoints? We didnt think about them. We wanted to add some difficulty to our game)

First off, congrats on your first game jam! It’s a cool concept, but I did have some feedback regarding the gameplay:

Readability could use improvement: damaging tiles like spikes should be visually distinguishable from normal terrain, like a different color or high contrast. The brown horizontal bars look more like platforms than the actual platforms. The collectibles like the key and gray rectangle thing are pretty hidden against a mostly gray background.

Also faced a few bugs:

  • I can jump infinitely against certain walls as the kid (like the first wall on the right of level 1), doesn’t seem intentional
  • Blocks can’t move through the gray rectangle collectible
  • You stick to walls by moving into them midair, which it kills your momentum. Happens for doors and blocks too
  • The platform to the right of the seesaw on level 3 seems bugged
  • You can get stuck on the button in the bottom right of level 5 as the teen(?)
  • Putting a block in a teleporter makes the sprite disappear but the collision shape remains
  • I couldn’t play through level 5, the level design felt really convoluted, especially since it also introduced a new mechanic (teleporters). Also, one of the levers on the right wasn’t accessible

You probably already knew about most of these, but I hope it helps. It’s still pretty high quality for your first jam entry. Nice work!

Yeah, we knew about bugs, but some of these discovered only now.

We tried to fix our game in last days of work, but didnt make it in time. I think we will upgrade the game after game jam.

Thank you for paying so much attention to our game!

The music is very nice. The palette is also nice, although it sometimes blends elements of various functionalities a bit too much (it took me a while to notice spikes), maybe making them a bit more distinct would be an improvement. :)

Developer(+3)

I was making music, and I didn't expect anyone to praise it. Thank you.

Like the art style and the color palette of your game. Nice!

The game mechanic with the different ages/sizes, coupled with the buffs,  opens up interesting puzzles.

What about improving the controls a bit more? I feel that this would elevate the game quite a lot.

Had fun playing this =) Congrats on your submission!

Thanks so much for the kind words about the art style and mechanics!

Regarding the controls — I couldn't agree more! As a developer of the game, I’m actually actively working on upgrading them at this very moment. I really want to make them feel perfect.

Could you share what specific parts feel a bit off to you right now? I'd love to hear your thoughts so I can make it even better!

Interesting game. I really like the concept of the character aging and getting different abilities. Nice work!

Thanks :3
