Themes
Gotta go fast! It's a racing game where you must race through the checkpoints as quickly as you can to beat the clock

Tooling
Phaser, aesprite and audacity. Didn't do too much new as I've never made a fake 3d racing game before.

Another pseudo-3d racing game! :) This was super cool! I loved all the polish you added, from the impact on the car, hitting other bikes, the confettis, I had an awesome moment where my time ran out but my car still went on for another 20 yards reaching the checkpoint and adding another 15 secs, that was awesome! Love the music and the graphics are super clean, the wind trails, the screaching etc. really awesome job I loved it!

Cool racereminds me of Top Gear 2 on Sega

I'm so bad at racing games, but I enjoyed this a lot!

Love the fake 3d effect which still makes the track readable in the distance.

The nitro and the drifts are super cool. I hate crashing into the trees and stuff though =)

The different zones are a nice touch too.

Great game jam entry you have here. Congrats!

Some Rad Racer vibes for sure. Picking up the coins is very satisfying. gg!

It really scratches the wroom-wroom itch, reminding me of Outrun, but still being distinct. :)

I like the smooth transitions and all the little juicy details. Great work!

That's a good way of describing it. Ha ha.

Incredible visuals and sound design, and the music was really good too!

The impact of crashing, the speed lines and drifting felt great - everything is really polished.  This works really well for a lowrezjam game.  Nice and simple gameplay but really fun and addictive.

The presentation is amazing especially sound design! I wonder.. did you hand-draw the micro cruise animation at the start?

In google chrome pressing ctrl+R makes the screen black until going to fullscreen (It works normally after exiting fullscreen).

Definitely will come back to try and get a higher score

Thanks for playing!

Appreciate the bug report, I'll take a look at that.

For the title animation, yup, handmade! I started with the static version in aesprite, and basically made a manual mask by drawing over the title a little bit each frame on a separate layer, then deleted the parts that weren't under the mask each frame. It came out better than I expected!

So many cool details, the particles effects, how everything stays very readable at such resolution. A super nice trip

Developer

Thank you! Glad it felt readable, that was a primary goal for me. Let a few things scale via nearest neighbour, but everything else was manually drawn to keep shapes and colors readable from all distances

You really nailed this! So many great little touches, like the changing scenery and the motorcycle guy getting knocked off. Beautiful!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words 😊 I had a lot of fun making that motorcycle bail animation

Loved all the polish on this, the extra touches (like the confetti burst, sunset in the background, and mud tracks when driving in grass) really added to the depth and feel of the game.

Developer

Thanks 🙏 really wanted to help ground the car to make it feel like it's part of the environment, given that in this pseudo 3d model, it's technically just floating in camera.  Glad it paid off!

Really cool concept, and really really good execution! I’m not much for racing games, but I actually had a lot of fun with this, even playing in manual mode.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Wasn't sure if anyone would bother with manual mode, but I think it's a fun extra challenge.  Glad you had fun with it too
