Themes
The main theme is Seeing With Sound. In BitDJ, the player (quite literally) sees the music! The notes and beat bars are the song, streaming in from all four sides of the screen, and you jam along with the cat DJ by hitting them right on the beat. Pattern Recognition is our sub theme, a big part of the challenge is learning to read the rhythm and note patterns, so when a motif comes back around, you're ready for it.
Tooling
Godot 4 for the engine, Aseprite for the pixel art, and Tracktion Waveform for the music and SFX.
We were familiar with all of these tools from past jams, however, working around the audio browser latency with Godot was a new challenge, and creating retro soundtracks was another learning experience!

Very polished and well made. The note hits felt accurate and it was easy to keep up just by listening to the music and hitting the keys to the beat. The camera zooming in and out and moving around was a nice touch, and then when the notes start flying in on a curve it really helped to keep things interesting. All of the chiptune music tracks were excellent too!
I appreciate you adding a hard mode for rhythm game veterans. Now all you need some sort of BitDJ DDR controller peripheral :D
Loved the game. Simple yet engaging gameplay.
Music is nice, but i didn't enjoy it that much. Still will give it a 5 since it's handcrafted and was done in two weeks.
Visuals look good and authentic.

The screen zooming and panning added a good deal of interest to the levels. I had fun with it, but it was a bit on the easier side than I prefer. I understand that this sort of thing is pretty much impossible to balance. Great job!
