How does your game fit the Theme?
In You Defend a Telescope, the player literally stares at the night sky to play. Every sky contains 10 actual constellations that you have to draw; you memorize a single pattern and can apply it across different skies, and by the end of a level, your screen is essentially a hand-drawn star map. The enemies are also night-themed — they're insects that are attracted to the observatory's light, and each has a miniature constellation tattooed on its joints. Each game run also starts with a new, randomly generated sky, so every time you play, it's a new night.
Game Engine?
Game Engine / Tools (Other)?
No engine. TypeScript with the browser's Canvas 2D and Web Audio APIs, built with Vite. All graphics are drawn by code at runtime and all sound effects are synthesised while you play.

It was an awesome game! The art and effects have a really polished finish. One thing that could be improved is making the constellation chain more visually prominent
Pretty fun game and fitting for this theme. The art and boss battle is pretty solid. The only thing I'd have changed is lowered the screenshake because it made drawing the constellations a bit harder.
It’s a really good game and fits the theme perfectly! I really liked the reactions around the world when you find constellations —,that was a nice touch.
The only problem is that after playing for a while, I started seeing the same shapes appearing in the sky again. That said, very good work!
Nice entry, very polished! Some stars are behind the right panel, I cannot create some constellations… =(
This is a game that should be shown when explaining the concept of "game juice"!
Gameplay: Pretty cool! I didn't think there would be a tower defense game here, especially not one, where you draw constellations instead of towers! I'm not sure if I was supposed to end the game after the 8th wave. I kept playing, but stopped after over 40k points. At this point I felt like I was invincible :)
Graphics + audio: JUICY! The camera effects (shake + freeze frames) really do the work here! I also liked the vibrant colors. Sfx and music worked with the graphics.
Theme: I really like your interpretation! It uses "stargazing" in a fresh way. Really cool.
Over all- I spent more time playing your game than I thought I would! Really cool submission!
YOOO, THIS GAME IS SO DAMN COOL!🌌🎹
The constellation drawing mechanic is such a creative way to turn stargazing into actual gameplay. I genuinely loved searching for the right stars and then getting that little piano melody when a constellation is completed — that sound is SO satisfying. 😭✨
And the relaxing audio at the beginning + camera effects really surprised me. The atmosphere feels calm for a moment, then suddenly you’re defending the telescope and everything gets chaotic. 😂
The whole idea of using constellations as your weapon is honestly one of the coolest interpretations of the theme I’ve played in this jam. ⭐
If you keep developing it, I’d love to see even more constellation combinations and stronger visual feedback when you discover one, because those moments feel really special.
🏆 TOP RATING FROM ME! You guys absolutely cooked with this one.
Congratulations on the jam submission! 🔥🌌
And if you have some free time, PLEASE try my game too and leave me a review! I’d really love to hear what you think. ❤️
GG!! 🎮✨
Awesome!!! the idea is so creative!!! the visuals look amazing, though it’s a little hard to tell whats happening on screen. Top contender for winning
Thank you so much!
Gameplay 4/5 - It was fun, and I'm not generally a fan of bullet-hell type games. The drawing mechanic was very fun. My one complaint was it felt a little too easy, I never ran out of the stardust I needed to keep drawing and I ended up beating Normal difficulty on the first try.
Creativity 4/5 - Again the drawing adds a lot to elevate this above a typical game. It almost feels like a magic system and it works really well.
Art Style 3/5 - It was fine. I could tell the monsters apart easily and the player character/telescope looked good. The pixel art style leads to a lot of the effects looking like oversized pixels floating or bouncing around which adds a lot of visual clutter.
Audio 4/5 - Again the music was fine, it did its job but I wouldn't try to download it to listen to later either. The sounds effects were good and fit the theme well but they did sounds a bit like they went through a low-pass filter. Not sure if that was intentional or not.
Theme 5/5 - Straightforward but great take on the theme.
Thank you for playing, and thank you for such great feedback! I will take all of it into consideration.
This game was really fun and creative! I loved trying to find new places to make each constellation, and it really forced me to be observant
Haha, glad to hear you enjoyed. Thank you for playing!
I loved this game. The UI is something incredible and also how the game was really easy to play but fan at the same time. I also like dthe powerups like in Vampire Survivors and also the pixel art grafich was really cool.
Thanks a bunch for playing!
