Themes
Since this was my first GameJam, I kept those in the back of my head but have tried to keep the game simple, so that I would be able to finish.

Tooling
I used Godot 4.7 as the engine, Pixelorama for all the sprites and animations. This was the first finished game I have made with Godot, so I learned a lot!
Thanks guys for organizing this Jam!

This is cute as heck. Love the sprites, especially the "ouch, a cactus!" one. My reflexes are a smidge too slow to really get to the heights that are possible — I maxed out around 400 — but y'know what, I had a great time with the game regardless. Excellent choice in music, too. Really fitting. Well done!

Great game! The cute animation pairs perfectly with the sound effects.

Fun game, I got a pretty good score (I mostly focused on trying to go really high lol), it was hard to feel safe grabbing power ups because I didn't wanna fall into an obstacle or hit an umbrella (which always completely nerfed my height if I had it when hitting the trampoline. Even just timing my jumps was fun though, good game!

I loved the expressive sprite work on the character. I managed to get some good bounces going once I got the timing down!

Very nice game! The controls are simple and quickly understandable.

The chosen music was great and fitting, even though the loop started to feel a bit repetitive towards the end. The powerups were a nice  too.

The only change I’d make is the coloring of the items. When your speed is high enough, you don't have enough time to distinguish items by shape alone.

Great entry!

This is surprisingly fun and addictive for something so relatively simple! :D

My best max h was 1289, I thought I will end up in outer space. XD

Also, the music is incredibly catchy! :D

A simple, fun arcade game. The simple gameplay is easy to pick up and it has that “just one more go” feeling of the early classics. My max height is 1036… I’m sure I can do better with a few more boings.

Thanks for your kind comments!
Yeah I really tried to keep the urge low for "just one more feature" and make it simple and fun :)

Steller first game! It was a very unique and fun game :)

Thanks for the comment, glad you liked it :)

Ha ha what a gem! It really creates that “ooooooh just one more try” feeling. I think the only thing I’d change here is feedback on the space bar. Not sure what would be better, but as is you don’t really feel the impact of the space bar timing.

Great work!

Developer

Thanks for the comment! You're totally right with the space bar, I struggled a while with that part. I planned to add more FX to give feedback but I didn't make it there :)

Thanks for stopping by my COMET entry — came to return the favour! For a first-ever jam this is really charming: the little hero sprite has a ton of personality for 64px, and the starry night backdrop is lovely. The timing-bar boost mechanic (nailing the bottom of the arc for extra height) is a clever hook — that "one more jump to time it right" feel is exactly what you want. Hats off for doing all the art and code yourself, no AI. Really solid first submission!

What a fun silly game! My reflexes are just a bit too slow for it ... oh well =)

Reminds me of those arcade games back in the days. Simple idea, but you can't stop playing.

It also works quite well with the limited resolution. And I just love the animations.

What about making the good and bad items more visually distinct? My simple brain works better with something like "blue is good" and "red is bad". Come to think of it, maybe that's exactly what the challenge of this game is about...

Your first game jam? Congratulations on submitting!

Had a lot of fun playing your game. Looking forward to your next =)

Thanks for the kind words and feedback!
Most of the sprites were just a quick draft that then became the final design haha. Definitely could be improved!

XD Thanks for the comment! I should add that as a subtitle in the game ;)
