How did you incorporate the theme "UNSTABLE"?
Well, a monkey chasing down a banana is a pretty unstable situation. From the gameplay perspective, you need to pick up boosts to get further away from the monkey, but the boosts make it more challenging to react to obstacles coming your way. So there is instability in the tradeoff.

Banana must run! Banana did run! Banana got eaten :(

Developer

thanks for playing lol

I really loved this. Highlight was a run where I was about to fall into a pit only for the monkey to grab me midair! Sure I got eaten, but I was rescued as well. The one change I feel I'd make is for there to be an option to restart right away instead of having to add my name to a leader board every time.  I tried this multiple times and I only managed to get to about 40 or so. The different animations for getting eaten, or electrocuted or falling in a pit were nice as well. Great job!

Developer

thank you! And ya that's honestly a really good point regarding having to always type your name as its unnecessary when you already know your score won't be high enough for the leaderboard. Thanks for checking it out!

The intro scene is genuinely so funny lol. XD Even though I'm terrible at this kind of game, I really enjoyed it!

Love the art and the use of the assets, Crash Bandicoot is one of my favorite game sof all time, it's well polished! I was expecting to see maybe some additions to the gameplay, but I will always play something that reminds me of Crash!

thanks!

the whole thing feels like some weird old flash game, which honestly fits it

the boosts are probably what make it interesting since getting faster also makes it easier to screw yourself over

if you're checking other entries, mine's ONE REACTOR

Haven't played crash banooka in a long time but this definitely had the spirit of it. Only thing I could say was keyboard controls felt weird to me for this type of game, i'd expect gamepad for 3D platforming. The main gameplay loop worked well enough except some obstacles were a bit punishing and almost impossible to complete. Fun entry!

Developer

Thanks. Ya this is definitely the kinda game I would want to play with a controller too, but I just assumed most people would only try playing with a keyboard. Though to be fair, some of the more difficult path tiles (the zigzag ones) were specifically rigged for the keyboard (either hold A+S or S+D to go bottom-right or bottom-left without falling off). And regarding the electricity obstacles, I originally did have tutorial text tells you that you need to jump over the blue ones and slide under the orange ones, but I decided to get rid of it since I thought it was too obvious (the position of the points banana is meant to be a kind of an indicator for that). Thanks for checking it out!

The game's style is interesting—it felt like I was playing a pirated version of Donkey Kong. I don't mean that in a bad way; I really liked the visual style. I've rated it. Good job. I look forward to you playing my game, too :)
