That was fun. Art style gave me Animal Well vibes. And I enjoyed the mechanics. Good job.

I couldn't play on my phone :( but that doesn't mean the game is bad! Guys, try it for me, I think this game definitely deserves your attention :) Good luck to the developers!

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks so much for the support!

Submitted

No problem. 😉

Submitted(+1)

So much juice in this game, charging and firing felt super satisfying. I found that getting your gun fully charged and then just going in blasting expecting to lose a life in the process worked fine :-D

Developer

Haha nice! You found our hack. That's the advice I've been giving people to beat the game, just keep bouncing/charging and keep moving and you'll get through. With the tight hit boxes on the drones you can squeeze past in some pretty tricky situations.

What ending did you pick?

Submitted

Kill, zero hesitation 😈

Developer

Damn okay haha! I guess what else would I expect. I would kill too if I had the chance. But I did question it for a moment unlike you haha...

Submitted(+1)

realy liked the art style, the game is fun and it might be one of the best ones i've played in this jam. Great job !

Developer

Thanks so much for saying that! We really enjoyed making it <3 Using the limited palette was a first for us and it really brought out some creativity, I highly recommend.

Developer

Also, did you manage to finish it? Would love to know which ending you picked haha

Submitted

nah i have a major skill issue sorry :sob:

Submitted(+1)

really like the visual style! I had a hard time figuring out how to avoid the enemies, but maybe i just need to get good

Developer

Thank you so much! The levels are designed in a way that you can almost always jump over/under or escape tight situations and use the jump pads to both charge your gun and loop around and over drones. Definitely think with some practice you'll find these awesome loops anc hacks to get by!

The ending is a fun experience so if you have the time, it would be awesome if you gave it another go and got through to the end. Thanks for playing and commenting!

Submitted(+1)

Platforming/movement feels really satisfying, the jump pads are especially fun.
The game itself is a bit on the difficult side, I think if the red orb thingies had a bit less health and if there were some health pickups for the player placed around the level it would help balance things out a bit.  You could also start with the enemy spawn rate quite low and then speed it up over time to ramp up the difficulty.  Overall though this is a great submission, nice work!

Developer

Awesome feedback, thank you! Definitely agree that we needed to balance a bit more. This is something we just didn't have enough time to balance but we have learned our lesson for future submissions. Did you manage to beat it eventually though even with the toughness?

Submitted(+1)

Very nice graphics, very high difficulty. Still had fun, although died A LOT :)

Developer

Thank you so much! It's awesome that you stuck around long enough to beat it. What ended up being the strategy for you to get through?

Submitted

I unfortunately didn't finish it, but tied MANY TIMES (you know... ambition) ;) What I tried to do was just jump near enemy spawns, then go to larger platforms/flat areas below to lure them closer to my height and shoot enemies when they were at my level or jumping level ;)

Developer

Yeah that's not a bad strategy at all! The way we beat it it to double jump on the pads whenever you get a chance to make sure you fill up on ammo, then unload as much as you can into the orbs even with enemies heading your way. It get's quite tiring and difficult to try and kill all of the drones before going for the orb. The drones also only notice you when you get close enough to them.

Heading up and to the left through the narrow passage to kill that orb first seems to work well too! Then heading to the easier orb on the right and finally the one on top.

Very cool game! I feel like it is a little bit unforgiving; it took me several tries to beat since I think it is so easy to loose, also idk if it is explained but it took me a while to realice how the gun is charged. I feel like the 3 minibosses are cool and I love the art style and pallete! In general pretty good game!

Developer

Thanks so much for the feedback. We definitely should have explained more on how the gun charges but glad you managed to figure it out. I also agree on the difficulty, we planned on just adding 2 extra lives but just ran out of time right at the end working on some final details. Definitely will be balancing better in future!

Submitted(+1)

Very hard game but with some strategy you can beat it :)

Developer

Sounds like you found some strategy! What ended up working for you? Curious to know what path you took etc!

Submitted

Let me try... I managed to destroy the first "nest" (the right one) using the left platform in almost no-time, then go to the top right and loop to the left nest defeating the small drones at the main platform :P

Developer

Nice! Sounds just the way I would tackle it too. Which ending did you pick?

Submitted(+1)

Absence of aiming is deal breaker for me. A lot of situations where you can't do anything because enemies bellow you and you just die because of it

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, that's good to know! Personally this was a decision we made to enhance the platforming as it requires you to jump and dodge a lot more and to shoot while jumping and falling off platforms in order to time shots right. I can definitely see how this could be frustrating and not come across the way we hoped though. Something we will consider in future for sure.

I'd definitely recommend giving it another go though with this in mind. Plenty of great indie games only allow attacks on a single horizontal plane. Just need a little bit more platforming skills to get through!

Submitted(+1)

it was too difficult for me unfortunately but love the sounds and the art style

Developer(+1)

Thanks for trying it out! All of the music and compositions are original and make for the game. The ending credits song is especially cool, we put a lot of effort in so maybe you should go back and give it another go! It's definitely beatable. Let me know if you want some quick tips to get through easily.

Submitted (1 edit)

I will give it a few more tries but can't promise anything lol

update: I did beat it very cool endings I beat it twice you just have to run away so much lol and line up your shots

I also wanted to say the camera movement was a nice touch and the voice acting and the credit music were good, great job

Developer(+1)

That's great feedback, thank you so much! Yeah the game 100% needed more balancing and maybe a way to aim up and down a bit but glad you went back to beat it! Thanks for taking the time to play the game.

Very cool design, I like the use of a limited colour palette. The setting in general kind of reminds me of Axiom Verge which is neat. Thanks for making it! :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for commenting! I just checked out Axiom Verge and I definitely see the connection. Glad you enjoyed it. Did you manage to beat it by the way?

Submitted(+1)

No unfortunately, but I bet I can do it if I give it another go :)

Developer

The endings are quite cool! If you bounce on the pads to charge up your ammo a lot it's much easier. And don't be scared to move fast and dodge. You are much faster than the drones so you can get to safety and lure them to wards you and take them all out like that.

Submitted(+2)

Very tough! I didn't realize the jump pads gave me bullets at first. I like your limited palette, although perhaps the main character should conform to it as well. All in all, I'm always down for a solid action game in a jam.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! There was definitely a lot of room for refinement and having better indication of the mechanics but overall, glad you enjoyed it. The limited palette was super fun to work with! We were concerned the character wouldn't pop enough but I think you are right, should have stuck with it solidly.
