1. When talking about skipping several seasons, I think 1 wealth per season is too much.
2. Advance a Faction is cool.
3. I like deeper construction mechanics, though.
4. I like acquiring abilities.
5. Embark on a Journey is also very nice.
6. +1 Recovery Value sounds like a lot if we're talking about skipping maybe 8+ seasons.
7. I would also not grant +1 Renown per season. Maybe per two.
8. I also think more of these options should come with a minor nuisance.
9. I also think that a Retainer shouldn't gain a level every season.
10. Nor should you gain an edge per skill per season.
11. Other than that, this looks annoyingly good for how long we had to work on submissions.
Top-tier entry IMO, excellent expansion on the downtime rules, beautiful little zine, great for any game. Amazing work!
I love this not just for the options it gives, but the licence and framework it gives both players and directors to work out exactly what the heroes do during an extended break from the action.
I have a soft spot for anything that helps the role-playing part of our role-playing game, and this gives so many choices. It makes me want to create a gap between campaigns to allow characters to grow.
Excellent work in making a timeskip tool that's simple to use but quite compelling. Perfectly hits the theme, and the way the contents are laid out is fantastic.
The one critique I have regards the Take on an Apprentice activity. I believe it doesn't fully account for retainer advancement rules, given the examples in the Monsters book describe how retainers immediately shoot up to their mentor's level when recruited if they're not higher already. Worth considering how that interacts with your rules for their level equaling the seasons spent training them.
As an aside, it's been very funny watching other submissions (including my own) bounce around the #2-5 popularity spots the past few days while this firmly holds #1. The community has a clear favorite to win this thing. It's well deserved.
Oh interesting! I didn't see that rule, that makes sense. I may have to tweak the wording on that in an update. After I read your apprentice rules, I also think our rulesets could work well together lol.
I don't know if popularity will necessarily translate to high scores, I guess we'll see! I know people love illustrations, so I imagine a lot of the views and downloads come from that.
Heh, I was tickled when I saw the apprentice section in a draft while I was working on my submission. The shared naming there is a nice coincidence for the same jam. Definitely down to chat about how they might interact!
Simply incredible!
Just next level in every way. Elegant design and lots of avenues presented. I think this can create really fun character conversation and exploration, lasting effects too. Top tier stuff.
Excellent piece of work!
I really like this and I feel like it is a level of time progress that the game is actually lacking right now. Very good options.
Strong in theme, function, fun and formatting. It looks lovely, and is a great way to add depth to stories. Well done.
Love this one! Not only is it super usable, it's also so pretty! And most of the bonuses feel appropriately balanced, though I think it might depend on how long your campaign is. I feel that with longer campaigns, some of these bonuses can get somewhat out of hand.
I've looked at a fair number of entries, and I have to say, I think this one is my favorite. It's so useful, it solves a problem that I imagine many directors have had (in fact there was a post in the subreddit recently where someone asked about how to deal with extended downtime, and the top comment just linked to these rules), and it is the only entry so far (including my own) that I feel like I will DEFINITELY use in my own game. Absolutely astounding work.
This submission is awesome on all fronts rankable, and if I could vote on layout/presentation, it would be the easy winner for me. It's functional and beautiful. Great job!
