Description
The game concept I actually came up with after writing majority of the music, as when hearing end credits my mind pretty much already defaulted to a bittersweet, nostalgic type of song. My game idea is an exploration rpg where the main character wakes up in a timeline where his village is destroyed, and has to travel to different villages on his planet and makes all sorts of friends before finally being able to save his own. The context is that during this credit sequence, or rather right before it, the main character has to leave behind all of his new friends in order to return home. This is what I came up with to match the idea of a bittersweet nostalgic song, and then eventually, I started to add more intense and upbeat sections to try to give the song a "one last hurrah" feel, as presumably during the credit sequence we would get a montage of all of the moments the main character made with these people before having to ditch them.

I'm getting massive PS1-era JRPG vibes and in this context the sound quality is almost too good. And it ends too early, you are depriving me of more of your music.
Great composition, very nice execution.
That beginning with the piano is my favourite part, beautiful melody, accompaniment and it's full of life with the using of sustain pedal and the arpeggios.
The energetic part is also great, it could be an ending song of a game from 3DS or something like that, as you said it's well done "one last hurrah".
The ending could have been extended for a few seconds to make it less sudden, so it ends on a high and satisfying note. There it ends abruptly which "ruins" a little the build-up.
Overall, it was a great music, high quality, good atmosphere and vibe, and it matches well with the story you wanted to tell !
Edit : I also enjoyed the bass line !
Thanks alot! Yeah the ending was definitely something I could have spent more time on, I came up with the little rhythm section in the end without fully knowing how I would be able to transition it to an ending and I ended up not having the time or ideas to flesh it out. Thanks for that feedback.
(Submission 15/29 - "A Bittersweet Goodbye" by Arievix)
I could definitely see this song in a pixel-art styled game with all of the soundfont usage, giving it that retro SNES vibe that I really like! Incredibly groovy and wonderfully composed!
I wish it went on longer because I felt as if it ended right as it was building up.
Great submission, Arievix! Love it! :D
Thanks for the kind words! I was definitely shooting for that SNES feel so I'm glad to hear that I was able to pull it off. Sadly by the point that I got to I had ran out of ideas on where to take it from there and kind of rushed an ending, so that feedback is definitely warranted. I'll keep it in mind going forwards.
Hey, I've just listened to your track!
I found your track really interesting. It stands out from the other submissions thanks to its cute, cheerful style and its "happy goodbye" feeling, which is very well executed.
I also really liked the melody, the energy, and the instrumentation. The only point I would mention is the ending. It felt like it was building toward a final climax, but the piece ended before that payoff arrived.
Overall, I really enjoyed your submission.
Good luck with the rest of the voting period!
Thanks, The ending was definitely a part that even I felt I faltered on, I had struggled finding a way to include that rhythmic piano section and then being able to transition to an ending from there so I ended up rushing something that didn't sound too great. Glad to hear all the other stuff went well though, again appreciate the feedback!
