Well... I didn't expect the fog to be such a beautiful, eloquent metaphor for both my memory issues AND my bipolar disorder 😭 Page 13 hit me HARD... It's really weird, my room suddenly got super dusty and my eyes got watery right around then. Funky coincidence :D The dust didn't go away for quite a while, either...
There is just... an absolutely remarkable blend of humor, insight, emotion, poignancy, and cleverness here. I am in love with this game. Not that I love it lol, I am in love with it. I turned each page with an awe and joy I didn't even know I was capable of. It inspires me to want to make something like it. In fact, I have in a way: my "big game", Oceans and Spirals, also has you in a void that's mysterious, empty, and dark, too. But it focuses on the loneliness and hopelessness, the darkness, inspired by its video game source (Alan Wake 2). This is like... you took my mania, my hope, my love of life and others, and my depression, threw em in a blender, and served them on a fancy plate.
I was also super surprised by the part where only you or the companion can be FILLED by a meal. Goodness, the idea of either helping someone else or yourself is such a relatable thing. Another surprising part where the dust got me.
This game needs to be edited. There are typos and such. That's gonna happen when you do SUCH a fantastic job making a SIXTY-ONE PAGE DOCUMENT in 72 hours. But, goodness, I literally ache for you to finish this. I beg you to make this game hackable or make an SRD for it. I hope for a day when you run a jam using this system. I already have several ideas of games I want to make with it, including a few I've been itching to make for a while but had no system for.
It is ASTONISHING that this could be created in 72 hours. It is one of my favorite games I've read in a long time, and I've found some really incredible stuff (including some of the entries in this jam!)

I was impressed with the amount of depth in this game, especially for the length. My only caveat is, and this is more my problem, is that it ate up a lot of ink on my printer with how dark it was on each page. I think if it could be more printer-friendly, that would be the only change I would make.
Great job!
Thank you so much! And for some reason I'm extremely hyped that you printed out my game!! Wow!! :D
At the same time I'm so sorry you had to print all of that out! lol Yes, I definitely want to make a printer friendly version.
Now that the judging period is over, I'm hoping to start making some quality of life edits and add in a few pages I didn't get a chance to make before the deadline.
I really hope you enjoy playing it. Feel free to share how your journey goes! <3
This was a great read, and I'm so excited to play it! I really enjoy the concept and the tone, this feels like a lovely mix of emotional and whimsical. There were a few passages that felt repetitive, but you did a great job guiding the player through the game and imbuing everything with the flavor of the setting. It's also so impressive how much you did in 72 hours!
I wish I could play it before commenting, because I'm sure there's plenty that I missed, and I feel like some really great moments will emerge from actually playing through, but I wanted to make sure to leave a rating before I ran out of time.
Thank you!! I'm so excited your excited to play it!!!
Ahaha!! Yess xD I remember moments late into both nights where I felt fairly certain I might be repeating myself, but I knew I'd need fresh eyes to catch anything. I'm hoping to do some polishing after the game jam ends! I've seen soo many typos LOL I appreciate your patience with it! <3 If you do get around to playing, I'd love to hear how your journey goes!
Oooh, this game has so much great detail and depth! The layout and illustrations do a fantastic job of bringing the player into the mindset of the fog and the game. I love how much creativity is already packed in here, and the flexibility it also allows for creating meals to share. I am in awe that you got this all made in 72 hours, well done!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
This game has a really interesting and unique premise, and your layout is very well done. Great use of the cooking theme to communicate something deeper. Again, I'm not very familiar with journaling games so I can't give much of a mechanical review, but I'm impressed.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply even if you're not familiar with journaling games. Your kind words mean more than you know.
WOW, the sheer amount of work you got done on this. Did you sleep at all?! You did some really interesting world building and mechanics, fully designed pages and detailed illustrated examples and and and… just, way to go! I really like the underlying message of helping uplift and fill a person to help them move on from the fog. You embraced the theme and made something thoughtful and poignant.

Thank you so much! Yeah LOL I definitely did not sleep enough, and I'm still kind of recovering xD It felt like a creative mania the way the ideas came together. But I was sooo excited to have finished it, and I even feel a little proud. Usually I don't feel that because of the mind-goblins, but I never thought I'd make anything like this. It's much larger than Hiss into the Abyss! Thanks for running the game jam and facilitating my ability to make something like this! <3
loving this game. So many google rabbit holes. Don't want to end. What does the joker in the deck mean when drawn? Have I missed something?
I'm so glad you like it! That means so much you wanted to comment :D
To answer your question, only one Joker is meant to be in use in the game--The one that represents Home. The other Joker was meant to be returned to its box or home to rest (It should be listed in the Prepare the Deck page).
I ran out of time, but I still intend to add a final page at the end to tell players that when you're done, you should gather your card and return them to their box or home to rest--along with your sleeping Joker. :) Zzz Zzz Zzz
Ah, wow , this is magnificent. You got so so much into the 72 hours and it's all so evocative and heartwarming in its own way as well :)
now THIS is an experience!! Wow! I can't believe this was made in 72 hours!! Incredible work here!
Thank you so much for reading it! I love your game, "This Game Takes Place at My Family Home on Thanksgiving" lol I actually still have it up so I can come back to it. It's awesome!
