This was fun to play! I did two playthroughs; one win and one loss. I'd sometimes forget what combinations I had though, and it would be great to see card info. Also, some of the card areas' popup info gets hidden under the story text; maybe having it pop up beside the area instead of above? A small detail. A fun, compelling story, on-theme, great use of visuals and sound, and neat mechanics. Fang-tastic!
Thanks so much! More info about the cards and slots would be a good idea. Im happy you enjoyed it!
I really enjoyed this! The card mechanic was interesting and revealing the different choices felt rewarding. It really felt like I had to play strategically when sacrificing cards or there might be consequences.
That was the tension I tried to create, having multiple ways to time-out or lose cards in different ways to drain your resources. And giving you the option to choose which cards you sacrifice. I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Neat idea. I was never exactly sure which card did what but I don't mind being confused so long as the game is fun and Fangs is certainly fun.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! The meaning and implications of cards and slots could have been clearer, fully agree.
Even though the card mechanic is not explained you figure out the rules quite quickly. I really enjoyed this entry, both the story and gameplay.
Thank you very much!
It was a bit hard to distinguish between speakers. The card mechanic was obscure but I found it very interesting. I know that there were solutions and that I could retry and figure out things in a better way. The connection between the cards and the choices themselves could have been more clear – like the order often confused me, and there were combinations that I really thought made sense but wouldn't do anything. Also, does that say SKEP??? I know that's lots of suggestions but only because there is something here!
Thank you bushn! It was my first time writing in first person (usually do second person). So good feedback on "who is speaking". I agree the comnection between cards, slots, and story got a bit lost. When I realized it was too little time to revamp it 😅 . I got SKEP from greek Skepsis, meaning thought. I hope it doesnt mean anything else offensive or weird I'm not aware of?? Appreciate all your suggestions, thanks again!
Not offensive in my experience, I just had to look several times because I assumed it was supposed to be SKIP.
Cool concept, and I enjoyed the writing! Unfortunately, I didn't quite understand the card mechanic. A bit more tutorializing at the start might have been helpful.
Thank you! I agree the mechanics ended up a bit too obscure, and less tied to the story/setting than I hoped.
Oh, this is incredibly fun. Definitely going to play again to try and find some of the icons/paths I wasn't able to see. Things ended... badly for me this time, but the tension at the end from my cards slowly getting drained was very effective!
My only bit of confusion was that I didn't quite understand why certain cards belonged in certain slots/why certain cards opened up new options. I think placing a card in a slot represents applying your resources/abilities to a certain area, but the specifics didn't quite click with me.
All in all, great game!!
So happy to hear that my game was a fun experience! The card draining adding tension was exactly what I hoped would happen. Balancing this kind of mechanic is quite hard!
You are right that the meaning and implications of cards and slots can be better tied to the setting and story. That was something I realized mid writing, but accepted I wasnt going to pull that off in the remaining time 😆.
Good use of the card mechanic to tell the story, and great interpretation of the theme!
Thank you!
Well that was just a buttload of fun. A simple story, but a really engaging mechanic drives you to play strategically and encourages replayability. Well done Joozey!
Thank you so much! And for your writing guidance :). I'm glad to hear the card mechanic added a sense of strategy and replayability.
