How does the game fit the theme?
A Detective who doesn't trust anyone. No one at all.
You have to solve the mystery as someone you know cannot be trusted.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Would loved to have made all of it, but I am only one person, who has a job that hogs up my week.
Dialogue System - Created by Nathan Hoad
Level Loading System - Created by Bacon and Games, adapted by me
I coded the rest including interaction system, cutscene system, and more.
I modeled the environments
Chracters from synty studios
Animations from Mixamo
Particle Texture Pack - Kenney.nl
All Music By Kevin Macleod - CC
Sound effects by Pixabay, and Kenney.nl

It's hard to give an honest review because I played with a buddy who narrated the entire game in a Scottish accent, which was hysterical. I love the character models, it's a really fun art style. Also wanted to say that the bar scene is really beautifully set, great use of leading lines and contrast and all that art stuff (I don't do art so idk). The options were really limited at times,  but I'm thoroughly impressed for a solo project.

Thank you! I had so much plans for more dialogue and options, but it was only me making it. I would have loved to add voice to it, but I think you getting someone to narrate it adds to the experience. My testers did the same thing. The characters were not mine (Got them from Synty studios) but the environments were. Thank you so much for the feedback. I really liked how my art turned out.

Awesome game! I love the noir theme and also the time looping mechanic is quite interesting. I even love the actual resolution of who the killer is. Though I do find it a bit challenging to gather some of the clues. Perhaps a bit more player feedback on some areas (like a glow on an object, interact indicator on some characters to signify they have something new to say, etc) would have helped! The music and vibes are perfect but I really wished it had voice acting, I think it would've been sooooo perfect (but completely understandable for a game jam game!). Overall, I had a fun time with this! Great work!!

Thank you! I thought I lighted up the clues a little more, and maybe added a little more for one of the clues. but yes a glow effect would work well as well. I would have loved to voice act it. I had voices that I would have done for the men, and someone who would have done the women. But ah well. Maybe next game.

Thank you for the awesome feedback!

Awesome noir game, I loved the build up and set up that was done. I liked how important pieces where highlight via the lighting and how there were extra areas you could explore (even if you have to give mr detective a bit of a push lol). The game conveys the theme of trust no one really well, good job!

Thank you. When I was doing my brainstorm the first thing that popped up was “Even yourself” and it kind of went from there.

I wish I had time to voice it. Just ran out of time and there were more important parts to make sure worked.

Not even trusting yourself is an awesome concept to include, and yeah that's game jams for you. We had to cut somethings as well. Hopefully in your next jam you are able to get in more of what you want to.

Thank you!

It was fun to make.

That was cool noir game! I love the aesthetics and music. But how do you even reach the bathroom? I played several times - all lead to the same ending: she or he kills the detective. Along the way there was no bathroom, but it is on the screenshots...

Hello!

Thank you for the review. Did you talk to the bartender? He might have an idea of where it is. If you still have trouble, let me know, and I’ll see what I can do.

Well, it was hard last days of jam, hardly no sleep and now I try to play as much as possible other games to make people happy. So sorry, if was not attentive enough, my bad. I talked to him but dont think I noticed the clue. Need to recheck :) Thanks!

Developer(+1)

No. Not your fault at all. I could have made it a bit more obvious. It came up in testing but i ran out of time as i could really do much on the last day.

Thank you for playing!

I can feel it! Last day before the deadline we didnt sleep since 18:00 till 06:00 - were in  endless rounds of playtesting and fixing)

I got a small group of slightly drunk people to stream the game on discord and comment. Solved so many bugs that way.

Submitted(+1)

oh, the old good "drunk user" tests :D

I love this idea for the jam! I think there was something I was missing in the second scene in order to interact with that one part, but I couldn't find it in any playthrough. I liked your use of lighting a lot throughout the game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your comment! I’m glad you liked the idea for the game. There is a hint that may be leading you to somewhere in another scene. Maybe talk to the bartender when you got the hint.
