I a screen shot to show you but itch won't let me post it. For some reason when this NPC on the right is near the middle of the two couches she can't be interacted with, it only seems to work if she moves more near the top or more near the bottom and I don't know why. I get the passive vs active NPCs thing and it doesn't seem to be an attack range, unless maybe the attack range actually starts too far away from the player. I managed to get it to happen with the NPC behind the cart as well by bumping directly into her and spamming interact and it just does nothing until I let her walk all the way out. Sometimes with the NPC on the right I can spam interact against her all up and down the entire length of that space and she never gets mad unless I move slightly left or right.

It seems like the issue only happens when aiming up or down I think, mostly up.

Edit: Here's a video link:

In the video I'm spamming the button, it's hard to tell sometimes but when I'm just standing there looking up I'm spamming interact, the hand just isn't visible under the NPC.

Thanks for reporting this! The issue wasn’t caused by the couches or other props. The empty-hand poke hitbox was slightly offset to one side when aiming vertically, so standing directly below the NPC could make the hitbox only touch the edge of the NPC’s interaction area. I centered the poke hitbox, so vertical pokes should now work without needing to move left or right first.

We’ll include this fix in an update after the Game Jam ends. Thank you so much for your feedback—it helped us notice and identify this issue!
