Love the artwork and the controls felt smooth. Avoiding doors with enemies was trivially easy if you just pay 20 gems to the guy every round. And the game encourages you to do so. Maybe it was a bit of chance, too, but I didn't encounter any enemies until the boss, and that seemed like it shouldn't be possible in a game centered around combat. The game is incentivising you in two opposing directions - you want to do the combat because it's fun, but the reward for solving puzzles is to not do the combat.

Yeah that was a hard balance to strike, and to be honest it isn't balanced. We ended up with a fun combat system we were happy with, but also wanted the player to be able to get through most of the game by solving the doors - so we leaned on the easy side because it's a Jam. 

That was a big reason why we added the endless mode though, you should check it out! Thanks for the feedback :)

I should have added - the combat and animations were great. A lot of fun. Well done!
