How does the game fit the theme?
The doors of the dungeon will tell you what's behind other doors, but they might not tell the truth every time. One color always lies, one never does, and the rest follow patterns you have to work out for yourself. To top it off, you can't even trust what you've learned during your previous run!
Use your wits and deduce which doors tell truths, hide treasures, and try to trick you into fighting dangerous foes.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Most sound effects, Nathan Hoad's Dialogue Manager 4, and fonts.
Everything else (art, music, code) was hand-made by the team!

The combat tutorial is well made!

Shooting and slahsing felt a bit delayed. Also good tutorial and nice movement, doors are the theme so fits.

Love the artwork and the controls felt smooth. Avoiding doors with enemies was trivially easy if you just pay 20 gems to the guy every round. And the game encourages you to do so. Maybe it was a bit of chance, too, but I didn't encounter any enemies until the boss, and that seemed like it shouldn't be possible in a game centered around combat. The game is incentivising you in two opposing directions - you want to do the combat because it's fun, but the reward for solving puzzles is to not do the combat.

Yeah that was a hard balance to strike, and to be honest it isn't balanced. We ended up with a fun combat system we were happy with, but also wanted the player to be able to get through most of the game by solving the doors - so we leaned on the easy side because it's a Jam.

That was a big reason why we added the endless mode though, you should check it out! Thanks for the feedback :)

I should have added - the combat and animations were great. A lot of fun. Well done!

I loved the visuals, but the audio is too loud; I think the volume of the main song should be lower.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! You can lower the volume of the music in the settings menu.

A very creative game that fits the theme perfectly! The attention to detail is excellent, and I especially love the atmosphere and the feeling of exploring the dungeon. I just wish there were more puzzles—I’d definitely love to play more!

Combat felt a bit slow for me but love the lying doors and the visuals of the game.

I love how the fake door sounds give away the illusion, it’s such a small detail but it really sells the game’s theme.

Very interesting idea! The tutorial went quite quick, and I wasn't quite able to read some of the abilities, which was a little sad since you put effort to make a tutorial level. Had fun regardless!

The combat is so incredibly well thought out and elaborate. I love how many options I have to fight with, and the parry system makes it challenging in a very fun way! I love the animations, VFX and SFX as well, makes it feel super responsive!

Such a great submission! The combat is fun, art style is pleasing to the eye, it's cool there are several attacks and different game mods, feels really well-made overall.

I'm surprised how advanced the combat system is, nicely done! Game is also aesthetically pleasing

This is a fun and addictive game! Love the combat,  and the animation, art and sound are great, too-especially for only a week of development! The thing I like the most is that it's not just fighting enemies. It uses logic, reason and intuition to choose the doors. It's added to my favorites!

great game It is so nice physics, art and animation, everything is very smooth - good job

The combat physics are great, and I can really see theres some thought put into them. The way you shoot and your character is propelled backwards shows a deep understanding of how small additions to mechanics can cause skill-based innovation in the player base.

I love the combat it feels super good, sometimes dialog stacks ontop of eachother at the end boss scene, very nice graphics it's awesome! ₍₍⚞(˶˃ ꒳ ˂˶)⚟⁾⁾

this game always kept me thinking about whats next. love the combat too!

The combat system is REALLY fun especially for being made in only a week. And everything else is great too. Overall great game!

The scope of the combat system and how polished it is, especially for a game made in just one week, is incredible. Well done.

The combat system and animations  are very nice , i love this game : ) , it has a great idea

Impressive scope for a week and quite polished for a jam entry. Best feedback I can give is that it would have been nice if there were more dynamic character animations. There's so many cool combat moves but it was hard to visually differentiate them or determine when they are best used. I'd also recommend teaching one move at a time over a greater time. I only ended up using one or two combat moves because it didn't feel like there was enough incentive to get creative.
