A little bit buggy in some parts, but such a cool entry! I love point and click puzzle games and really enjoyed the unique atmosphere. Very impressive for such a short development time, especially working alone. I would love to play the full version in the future!

Submitted (1 edit)

Pros:

  • Beautiful art and the music nailed the “totally extremely very innocent game definitely (sarcasm intended)” vibe of the game
  • Matches the theme of “Trust No One” (pranks, lying, etc.)
  • Lots of nice features such as the log to see everything that was said and the save/load features

Cons:

  • Difficulty perhaps?? For me at least it was quite difficult and I got stuck in the storage room 😭tried using a ladder but couldn’t do anything with it and it said it was locked so I couldn’t leave. That could be a me problem lmao. [Edit: it let me out afterwards for some reason hahaha]

Because I got stuck I didn’t get to complete the game so no more cons come to mind specifically 🤷 - fun game though and especially great considering you’re a beginner, solo developer!

Overall  Game looks nice.Sticked to the theme point.

This is great for a beginner working on your own. I did have a lot of trouble with finally pulling the prank at the end (especially since I seemingly triggered some glitch where the perfect spot interaction wouldn't show up after restarting) since I didn't get that there was a whole lying kids thing going on. I think there needs to be some obvious lie told by one of the kids at the beginning just so the player gets it right away.

Developer

That’s a good point, thanks for your feedback!

This was a cute game with a wonderful artstyle! I eventually figured out who was lying and who was telling the truth, at least with the two masked girls. The girl on the left would lie then tell the truth and the girl on the right would just lie.

SPOILERS that meant the clown and spider did nothing, only thing that mattered was the fire.

The part with Mark was a bit weird. He didn't seem to lie about anything, but his fears didn't help progress the plot at all. I tried covering myself in paint because he said she was worried when the kid was bleeding but that didn't work.

The ending was a bit random though. I thought it was going to be a bit cruel, like I'd put the rubber spiders on the stairs and something sharp at the bottom. But I guess when Ms Wilson sees a red pentagon with candles on the ground she does the stabbing herself...

It was fun though!

Developer (1 edit)

Yes, you got everything right!

Mark is supposed to be the character that tells misleading information unknowingly, but there is an important piece of information he gives.

It hints at the Mrs. Wilson’s fear of blood, or anything that resembles it, and after getting that information, the player can use the red paint in the storage room.

As for the ending, it’s not properly explained because this is a part of a larger idea I had, but since there wasn’t much time, I had to make it shorter unfortunately.

Thank you for playing!

You did a really great job! It was clean and engaging, and I really liked the art style and overall design. Great work!

Developer

Thanks, much appreciated!

I couldn't figure out how to proceed with the prank after preparing everything in the hallway. Maybe I was missing another step and I wish there were some more hints what needs to be done. There were a few bugs like the music stopping completely once entering the storage room. Even with those issue, I still enjoyed it a lot. The art quality of the characters and the environment is definitely at the top of the jam, and the dialogues are fun and engaging.
I'd love to see a full, more polished version. Good job!

Developer

Thank you very much for your kind words, I'm really glad you enjoyed the game!
I'll definitely work on the bugs, and add hints/change the final puzzle since most find it confusing.

Submitted

I hope you will continue this project, because it looks very promising! Even this small fragment is very polished, and it looks great both visually and narratively. The beginning went quite smoothly, but I actually had a lot of trouble putting together this prank. I mean I managed to put something together SPOILER red paint, a clown, spiders, candles, and matches, but I always have trouble figuring out how to hide. Also, in this part of the game, when you go outside, the children disappear, but a rabbit with a dialogue line from Poppy is still there. So, I have no idea how to do it without catching me. Also, in the hamster quest, the hamster isn't visible in the picture. I don't know if that's supposed to be that way. But overall, other than that, it looks very good, I don't know how much of the game I'm missing without doing this prank, if there's anything else in there, I'd love to get some tips on how to complete this part ♥

Developer(+1)

Thank you for such a detailed feedback!

I'll make sure to fix all the bugs and the issues with game flow for the full version. I'm not sure what's wrong with the hamster though, it' the first time I hear about that issue. Do you mean the paper is blank, or it's not visible when you're looking for it?

Also, the prank doesn't work because only some of the objects should be used. When asking around about what Mrs. Wilson is afraid of, some characters tell lies. The idea was to observe who always lies, and who says only part of the truth during the dialogs, and then choose the right objects based on that. All the hints were really subtle though. I'll definitely change that part as well, since it's just confusing at the moment.

Submitted(+1)

Thanks for the hint, I played through it again, I'm glad I saw this ending, but I still had trouble telling who was lying and who wasn't, and ultimately I'm not sure why this particular combination was the correct one. As for the problem with the hamster, I meant that you can't see it the hallway and only when I take it to my inventory by clicking on the painting, I don't know if it was supposed to be that way.

Oooh, cute game! Lovely visuals and the music choice was fitting. Found a couple of visual bugs and the balloon dialogue repeating after I gave it to the brat. Also the music suddenly stopped for me at some point, I think it might be a Godot's .ogg thing with web? I ran into that also, had to re-import the music files and check the "loop" in the import options as well as in the audio player node.

Setting up a summoning altar was funny though, well done! x)

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked the game! I'll make sure to fix the bugs for the full version. As for the causes for the music issue, it's definitely possible, thanks for sharing your insights!

Very cute visuals. I enjoyed it, tho i couldn't finish the prank, i didn't know what to do at some point.

Also, Mark has the same lines before and after i give him the ballon, he still asks for it and tries to get it himself.

Great job overall!

Developer

I'm happy you enjoyed it, thank you for the feedback!

OMG, I love point-and-click adventures! Thank you for making one, and quite a cool one at that. I just wish you could teleport by double-clicking, as I’m used to it from other games.

Developer

Thank you so much! I actually tried to add that feature, just didn't make it in time, so it's working only for a few interactions in the beginning ^^;

Very fun and cute! The pixel art looks amazing and the music really supports it. I don't see many games like this in game jams! I got stuck after getting all the items in the closet, but other than that the game was good!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing, and for your kind feedback!

Nice pixel art, animations and soundtrack! Idk why but this game gives touch detective vibes haha. I spent super long stuck in the first part of the game, many things to interact with, but none of them giving clues to what I needed to do haha. I think hints would be very helpful after getting stuck so long. Hints on what the objects could be used for would be nice too. The music cut off after a while instead of looping, so I played most of the game in silence lol. I admire the amount of effort that went into making the art, it looks very elegant and cohesive!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! I've never heard about Touch Detective before, but now that I looked it up, they really have something in common. As for the hints - you're right, they'd have helped to make the game less confusing. Thanks for your perspective and suggestions, it's really helpful!

Really awesome game! 🦆 It looks great and definitely got me invested. Like some other people mentioned, I wasn't able to get the ending haha, maybe I'm just dumb, but I still had a really enjoyable time with it.

It's a very cool project, and huge props to you for making all of this in such a short amount of time! The only issue I encountered was that sometimes, when moving between scenes, the music would completely stop and only start playing again after re-entering certain scenes.

Other than that, great job!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and leaving the comment, I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the game!

The hints for the final puzzle were too subtle, I think hardly anyone got past that point ^^; As for the music, it should have been absent only when in the storage room, but looks like some bug is causing it to disappear in other rooms as well. I'll work on fixing it in the future releases.

Very cute and innocent art style and music. The story had me curious to keep progressing. Judging by the title and the theme, though, I don’t trust it to be as innocent as it seems.

Unfortunately, I think I might have gotten softlocked during the pranking phase after setting up all the pranks and placing the items in the right spots, but I kept getting in trouble with Mrs. Wilson.

Still, I like the overall structure of the game and the interactions. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!

That's my fault for making the solution unnecessary difficult, sorry! The thing is there is only one correct combination, since several lies were told when player was asking about Mrs. Wilson's fears. I'll make sure to adjust the difficulty for the future releases.

This was super cute!! I did get stuck at the end though since i couldnt find somewhere to hide.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing!
It's cute only if you haven't seen the ending though :)

Damning the immortal soul of miss Willson prank challenge (gone wrong)

Really neat little point & click. Your spritework elevate this one despite its technical shortcoming. I love the athmosphere you're creating, the light going off in the storage room is a classic.

I also appreciate how confident you are with your final puzzle. Nothing is nudging the player in that direction, everything is obvious through context alone. Great confidence in your player's intelligence.

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

I convinced myself that raising the bar for the final puzzle that high was an intentional move to save unprepared players from being traumatized :)

The controls were a bit awkward but I loved the artwork and music box theme!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'll make sure to work on the controls in the future releases
