Description
This is a soundtrack for an imaginary science-fantasy JRPG set on Aeos IX, a strange and unknown planet that seems to call to humanity through dreams, like a distant echo.

When the expedition finally reaches Aeos IX, its members are greeted by a breathtaking world filled with lush forests and extraordinary beauty. Deep beneath this seemingly peaceful world, however, a dark entity is corrupting the signal that first drew humanity to the planet, seeking to consume their memories.

Musically, the soundtrack moves between hybrid rock, epic orchestral music, and ethnic influences.

1. Echoes of Aeos — Main Theme: Represents the call of the planet, humanity’s desire to find it, and their determination to understand what is happening there.

2. Whispers Beneath the Canopy — Exploration Theme: Represents the expedition’s arrival on a beautiful forest planet teeming with life. The music conveys wonder, comfort, and the feeling of entering an almost dreamlike world.

3. Abyssal Signal — Boss Battle: Represents the discovery of the entity corrupting the signal. It has been luring living beings to the planet to consume their memories, grow stronger, and eventually escape from Aeos IX.

4. Echoes of Aeos — Piano Reprise: Represents the end of the story and the final echo of Aeos. It reprises the main theme and its central motif in a calmer, more distant form.

My musical style is strongly influenced by Japanese composer Hiroyuki Sawano. The entire soundtrack was composed and produced in FL Studio, and the vocals on the main theme were created using the SOLARIA voice database in Synthesizer V Studio.

Message from the artist
This was my first game jam and my first experience writing and producing a complete vocal track. Thank you for listening, and I hope you enjoy exploring the world of Aeos through its music!

Theme

Songs of a Forgotten World

How does it fit the theme?
Aeos is the forgotten world, lost to human memory and absent from every star map. Its echoes, represented by recurring musical motifs throughout the soundtrack, are signals sent to lure humanity to the planet.

Awesome work! As others have mentioned, the mix and sound are so crisp and professional, it's a treat for the ears! All the tracks are great, though I especially liked Whispers Beneath the Canopy, the textures and rhythms were delicious to listen to, I'd love to play a level with that playing in the background. Great job! Thanks so much for sharing!

Amazing tracks! I enjoyed every single one of them!! If I had to pick a favorite though, it would be the Whispers Beneath the Canopy :) But Abyssal Signal is also sooo epic

Echoes of Aeos: Holy smokes. I think you've got this in the bag, my friend. This is a step above in terms of songwriting, with truly phenomenal mixing that sounds professional. What an epic song! I love how you balance the intensity of the band with the driving strings and soaring choir--it sounds like it's been recorded live in a concert hall. I need to check out this vocaloid!

Whispers Beneath the Canopy: I'm delighted by the layering of delicate plucked guitars, shakers, and delicate, high-pitched drums. I will say, the quality of the mix is ever-so-slightly more artificial-sounding than the first track, which could probably be attributed to the instrumentation. I'd be curious to see how many of the drums/percussion instruments are samples vs. VST instruments.

Abyssal Signal: This is driving, dramatic, and out of an action movie. Gives me some Bowser Level (with a Mario Galaxy twinge) vibes. Also, sort of Duel of the Fates! The choir is brilliant.

Echoes of Aeos: I like the flexibility of the tempo here, which adds some realism--though a few of the pauses are just a bit too long to sound fully natural. (Nitpicking here, only because it's all so high standard.) This is a lovely patch with lots of string/pedal/hammer sounds, and all the little details shine. How dare you end it on a IV chord... my poor heart!

Despite being only four tracks, you've given this soundtrack, and the accompanying game, a strong identity. Your ability to mix and produce at top level, coupled with a balance of inventive and intuitive composing, has made this soundtrack shine. You should be immensely proud--well done, and keep writing!

(And may I add, if this is your first jam, I can't wait to see what you do next time!)

Oh, thank you so much for your comment! That’s incredibly kind of you, and it truly means a lot to me. I hope I’ll be able to participate in more jams in the future and perhaps try something different next time. I love composing in many different styles, exploring both epic and more emotional approaches!
As for the piano, I completely agree, I went a little overboard with the pauses, haha! All the piano parts throughout the soundtrack were played and improvised by me. That’s actually how I usually compose: I improvise at the piano. My performance clearly wasn’t perfect, so I tried to edit it a little, but I definitely should have refined it further, haha!

Amazing, nothing to add to the deferlent of compliments in the comments. Solaria sometime sounds a little harsh in the very high notes, but I don't think there is much you can do except for engage a real singer. 5/5 stars for me.

Thank you, that’s very kind of you! And yes, I completely agree. I struggled a little with SOLARIA, as it was my first time working with vocals and with Synthesizer V in particular. It was a personal challenge for me, and I’m still relatively happy with the result, even though I’m aware that some parts could use more polish. I’ll rework everything for an official release, and ideally, I’d love to find a real vocalist. Let’s be optimistic, haha!

Honestly, I'm baffled it's your first use of Synthethizer V. It's amazing for a first, keep up the good work !

This has an enormous amount of soul behind it, and the polish is also great. I think this is a winner submission, and I hope you do. The vocals at the start however feel too buried at least for me, and would have done great if pushed up. Thanks for making this!

Developer

Thank you so much! And yes, I completely agree about the vocals. I wish I’d had more time to process and polish them properly. I’m thinking about officially releasing these tracks after giving them an additional round of polish.

Echoes of Aeos: Wow! (was, and remains, my first thought) This feels exceptionally professional. This is better than many title tracks with vocals in actual games that I’ve heard. In fact, this sounds like something you would hear on the radio! Nicely done! I think you definitely deserve to work with a vocalist in the future!

Whispers Beneath the Canopy: I love the world hand drum and flute influences. This sounds quite polished and like it is pulled straight from an actual game! Your bass work is something that doesn’t really have the lime light, but I think it adds so much to this track. Great work on this one! I think this one is my favorite of all of the tracks.

Abyssal Signal: This is quite epic. The gritty and powerful guitars and drums pair so nicely with the epic nature of the choir. Again, this feels game-ready and could have fooled me into believing this is already a high profile game!

Echoes of Aeos: This is a beautiful reprise and cap to your soundtrack! The performance quality is spectacular - I don’t really have much more to say. I just sat back and enjoyed. :)

What a versatile composer you are! These 4 tracks feel like they would take me months to just learn the style of one of them and you did this in less than a week. That is mighty impressive. Excellent work and thank you for sharing your music!

Developer

Thank you so much! That really warms my heart, especially coming from you (your OST is probably my favorite from the jam, and I think you’re incredibly talented!) My goal is to become much more involved in the video game industry, and I put a huge amount of work into my music. I’m extremely self-critical and rarely satisfied with my own work, so reading this truly means a lot to me. Thank you again!

this is really well done!! i love the vocals utilized in the first track. i find it really impressive that you got all this done in one week. the tracks are well composed, mixed, and vary so much in genre - this isn't easy to do in such a short span of time! great work!

Wow! Some great instrument choices here, although I feel like Whispers Beneath the Canopy could have benefitted from stripping back to fewer instruments, to let the melody shine? It's almost hitting the same "epic" notes as the main theme, which feels a bit wrong (to me!). Your main theme itself, very well planned and structured - was thinking about where a human singer would breath though! And that last note, I'd definitely consider having lower harmonies to support how naked that high note sounds in context.
My heart was crying out for some filthy acid synth in the boss battle, and would have loved a cheeky solo woodwind in the piano reprise, or at least a growing and shrinking amount of reverb to tell more of a story through the piece.

But well done on completing this for the jam! Hope you enjoyed your time with it :)

overall really good quality of plugins and composition but i wanna be constructive with this so i have to be honest, i didnt like the feeling this ost gave me, it is so good produced that it lacks a little bit of personality, it just feels like a mass production but dont get me wrong i really liked it and i gave it a really good rating, its just that it personally gave me that feeling.

i hope this helps you to grow up as a composer.

pd: sry if my coment feels agressive im not an english speaker

The last two tracks are by far the best I've heard out of all the submissions so far. The track "abyssal signal" does an amazing job of inducing a sense of urgency and anxiety, absolutely perfect for a boss fight.

It’s so incredible—the composition, the mastering, THE VOICE. I can only imagine this in a movie.

THIS WRITING IS THIS FIRE????

This might just be the best OST in this jam. The sound design and mixing is top-tier.

Echoes of Aeos main theme - literally gave me goosebumps. May be biased because of the vocals, but holy crap the instrumentals are SO GOOD TOO!!!!

Whispers Beneath the Canopy - filled with wonder in the sound, the flute and strings adding an authentic feel to the forest and the percussion is just an ear candy.

Abyssal Signal - WHAT PLUGIN DID YOU USE FOR THIS HEAVENLY CHOIR??? This is just EPIC. The subtle addition of bass synths really gives it an almost demonic otherworldly feel. and, like, idk what else to say, the melody is absolutely fire too and the panning is very satisfying.

Piano reprise - perfect closure. A satisfying bittersweet piano piece is everything this soundtrack needed to be absolute peak.

The story is kinda simple though, but HOLY CRAP does the soundtrack make up for that.

Hey! Your comment is truly heartwarming. It took a lot of work to achieve all of this in just five days, haha! The choir library I used is Chorus by Audio Imperia. It’s a very good and versatile library that works wonderfully for both epic and calmer music!

Submitted(+2)

Wow! Great tracks. I am impressed that you had time for lyrics with the vocals in the first track (and if you didn't, *please* tell me what voice library you are using). I loved the choir at the start of the boss music.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! It was my first time creating a vocal track and writing lyrics, so it was a challenge I set for myself, haha. I used Synthesizer V with SOLARIA for the voice. It’s similar to Vocaloid, but it can sound very realistic if you tweak it properly. I hope I’ll be able to work with a real singer in the future if I keep writing vocal tracks!
