This definitely seems like a reference to Project Daedalus:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Daedalus

The countdown reminds me of a particularly well-known David Bowie song, but in a very good way. Intentional or not, I love it.

I love your clay model as well. The real life prop thing is so cool, and I have some planned for my world that are more like real musical instruments that I need to build that are not in my submission. I definitely want to make some IRL props for my world.

The music is very good. I love it all, and it fits the world you're building perfectly.

Great work, Kirrifant! :)

Hehehe, thanks a lot! So glad to see someone caught the reference to Project Daedalus! And just the mention of David Bowie makes me happy. There's also a nod to Star Trek in the name of the planet itself (Kalos is an alternative name for Talos).

Regarding the clay model, it was really an out of the blue impulse which moved me to build something physical (I genuinely felt like Richard Dreyfuss in Close Encounters of the Third Kind, lol). And I HAD to make it turn!!! From the Discord, I know of your work as a luthier. Making specific instruments for an imagined species of another world sounds like a terrific idea!

Thanks a lot for checking out my work and for organizing the jam, man!

What an impactful opening. I really loved the mix, super clean. I especially want to highlight the low end and the kick, which are really well balanced. You can actually feel that pumping in your chest, and I think it adds a lot of weight to your minimalist style.

Every element and sound you introduced felt really pleasant and stayed consistent throughout. The sound selection is brilliant, and I really like how you’ve managed to give each sound its own space and moment to shine. Even some of the sounds that feel a bit “loud” in the mix (like the main synth in “Kalos”), I think work perfectly that way because it almost feels like you’re listening to some kind of live DJ set, and honestly, that’s exactly how your tracklist feels to me. I can picture you in that video, standing where the relic is, performing live.

The atmosphere is dark and unsettling, and I felt it was very coherent with both the music and the story of your world. The details added to the video frame made the whole experience even more engaging.

For me, it was a hypnotic experience, and it definitely left me wanting to hear more tracks from you in this style in the future. The overall feeling I got from this submission was that it wasn’t just a very creative project, but something that came from a very creative and genuine artist.

Incredible work.

Thank you so so much! This was probably the single musical project where I put more energy and time to date, so it warms my heart to read such a positive review and see the video contributed to the experience. The image of a (alien?) DJ inside the Relic in a live performance of the track set put a smile on my face and made it so meta it blew my mind! Thank you with all my heart. ❤️‍🔥

Story wise felt a bit like a prelude to the actual main story to come, so like a fellowship of the ring movie in a way 😁

The music was pretty minimalist and IMO works great as it is, the sort of foreboding vibe i got from them really fit the vibe of the story for me with how the whole thing builds up to the activation of the relic.

I really liked the industrial vibe of Project Spark and if this was a 80's scifi movie, that would've been a banging end credits track for the movie 😁

Good work!

Thank you so much, man! Yes, I had many ideas about the actual story which would come after the prelude (no kidding: I am taking note of that Fellowship of the Ring reference, it might have some influence in how I develop the story, hehehe), but I had to focus on getting enough tracks done to at least fill up the elements I had in mind for the presentation of the world, so I chose to stick to that starting point, kind of like what we would read at the back cover of a book.

"Project SPARK" was indeed the only track I had time to compose from scratch in the extra weeks we got, as most of the rest and even the video was already almost finished when I noticed the first extension. I had my trouble deciding if it really fitted with the rest of the project, but I liked it and it somehow did feel consistent, so I finally put it as a starter for greater effect, as in the middle of the other tracks stood out too much, and leaving it for the last one felt a bit like "hiding" it, but now that you say you picture it for the end credits, I think it makes perfect sense. Glad you liked it!

If time allows, I hope to keep developing the concept and the characters and see where it leads.

Thanks again for taking the time to check out my stuff! It means a lot. <3

This is a strong concept, as the tracklist alone tells a complete story, from the mission's launch to first contact and the activation of something ancient. The Relic pulling her in despite the risks is a classic setup, and the Kaloi tribe makes me have some questions: are they connected to it? Did they avoid it for a reason? The track names doing the worldbuilding is a cool way to tell a story, and I'd definitely be curious to see where this goes next.

Instrumentally and melodically, your tracks sell the whole technology/space aspect very well!

Great work!

Developer

Thank you so much! Yeah, so many questions unanswered! 🔍 I mean to expand this in the future and develop something more juicy story-wise, as currently the world-building and narrative aspect is pretty barebones. The second question you raise gives me food for thought! 🤔

Really good submission, that's honestly one of the best project i have reviewed so far ! I really liked the "Project SPARK" vibe.

Outstanding minimalistic sound design throughout. It was easy to pick out every element, even on lousy speakers. When there were multiple elements at once, balance was good. I liked the vibe and story. If I had to recommend avenues for further exploration I would say aiming for higher complexity on one or more of the following axes: number of elements, rhythmic, harmonic, and melodic complexity, and length of each track. But it sounds great just how it is.

Thank you so much for listening to my stuff and for your kind words! I take good note of your advice and will keep on it.

This are some really good tracks! I really enjoyed the opening track with the voice lines, and I just felt that was such a strong opener and had lots of impact. The art you made looks amazing too with that sculpture and drawing. Overall, really immersive experience and I really enjoyed it. Some feedback I would give is that try and incorporate the theme a bit more either in your story or art. But yeah, otherwise, really great sound design and I really enjoyed that!
