[Recruiting] Looking to Connect with Other Game Translators

Hi everyone! I'm an English-Spanish translator with some experience in game localization, and I'd love to connect with others working in the same field.

Translation work  can be pretty isolating—it's hard to find collaborators, reach out to devs, or even know where to start when you're on your own. So I'm looking to build a small network of fellow translators to:

๐ŸŽฏ Suggest and discuss games that could use localization ๐Ÿค Team up on active projects ๐Ÿ” Help each other find or build translation teams ๐Ÿ’ฌ Share resources, experiences, and general advice

To be clear: this isn't about finding paid work—it's for connecting with colleagues and collaborating on volunteer projects where possible. If you're interested in getting involved or just want to chat about localization, feel free to reply here or reach out through my social media! (I normally reply faster on Discord.)

Hi!

I would love to be part of this community. I'm a localizator (PTBR) at the beginning of my career, and I want to learn about more projects, meet more people, and explore more opportunities! ~ โ™ฅ๏ธ

Perfect! I sent you a friend invite on Discord :)

Hi! I'm a beginner in game localization, working with English and Russian

I'm looking to get some hands-on experience through volunteer projects and would love to join the community

I make CSV tools and could help with the file-checking side of the resource sharing. One useful test for a shared string table: put {player_name} in a source line, then leave it out of the translation. The check should point to that row without changing the file.

I built String Scout around checks like that, separate from judging the translation itself. What formats are people here actually working with: CSV, shared spreadsheets, or files straight from the game engine? That would help me see whether I can contribute something useful to the group.

Hmmm I would say it depends on what you're looking for, and the type of game you're translating. For example, for me it's always been .txt files with the translation strings or the full game scripts. I've been working exclusively with Ren'Py visual novels, so that's what I've handled so far. But like I said, it depends on many things. Of course, it's just learning a little bit about the game files and, if necessary, asking for help!
