when you fight lone star, the screen goes black, you can't see anything

I absolutely can’t rule out that I broke something at the last minute, but the fight still seems to be working in my own playtest save file and I don’t see any issues that might cause it from the editor. There’s a gap before the screen fades in that’s definitely longer than I intended, but even that shouldn’t end up being more than 5-7 seconds before the confrontation scene starts.
If you don’t mind me pestering, can I get more specifics about the issue? What sort of device or operating system you’re playing on, if there are any messages in the window or if the music still plays, stuff like that. Does this happen before, during, or after the fight?
I'm on PC and use Firefox.
When the fight started the screen was black but top and middle I could see the words "fireball" appear everytime i pressed the fireball button and the name of Lone Stars attack also appeared top middle. Sound was also still working. It looked like Lone Star cast a darkness or blinding spell so I could not see. Healthbars from me or the enemy where not visible.
Also before the fight started the game wanted me to choose another card that was just empty/blank and when I confirmed my choice with yes the screen went black and the fight started.
Thanks for the detailed report! I’m honestly stumped as to what might be causing the issue but I’ll do a fresh test myself tonight, including trying the game in Firefox.
If you’ve been using Firefox to run the game’s index.html and playing that way, try to play with the built-in browser by launching the game .exe instead, but I doubt there’s any simple way to pull your save file over if you did that. Unfortunately that’s the best solution I can offer until I pinpoint the issue.
Glad you were able to get it working, even if there’s no real reason why it should or shouldn’t. RPG Maker is basically a bundle of aging Javascript held together with duct tape and prayers, and adding plugins just makes it even more unpredictable, so there are always going to be edge cases or system setups where things don’t always work as intended even if the code I can control looks right.
