How does the game fit the theme?
The game is built entirely around the concept of distrust. The player is a lumberjack trying to escape a war-torn country, but he cannot trust the traders who scam him, the civilians who might be spies, or even the Mariner who sells the ferry ticket. Hidden mines and artillery strikes add to the paranoia.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I made everything from scratch. I didn't even use assets.

Made me remember Mission Impossible from good old NES instead of Hotline Miami. Nice work with the gameplay, atmosphere and audio.

By the way, this is indeed very similar. Thank you for your feedback. 👍

I like the Hotline Miami inspiration in this game and the option to have co-op is very ambitious for a game jam.

I don't see a lot of the theme in the gameplay, and the controls can be improve besides that, there a lot of passion and work pour in it by a single game dev. Well done!

Thanks! Yeah, the "Trust no one" theme is more subtle in the prologue, but it's there.

Every civilian and trader looks the same, but any of them could turn out to be a psycho with an axe. You can join the army, but they'll screw you over too. They promise $50 per kill, then pay only $30. If you mistake a psycho for a civilian and shoot the wrong person, you become an enemy to everyone. Not just the hostile military, but your own allies too.

And to top it off, the co-op button doesn't work. So in a way, you can't even trust the developer. Plus there are mines scattered everywhere, so you shouldn't trust suspicious pixels either.

I spent a lot of time on weapon mechanics and making sure the npc reacts logically to your actions. The full game will lean into the theme much harder. Appreciate the feedback!

Gameplay is really cool and fun but didnt see the trust no one theme

If you played the game, you would be able to notice this theme👍

Really like the art and music. The game is pretty hard tho!

I felt this could have been two separate games. There was the more cozy wood collecting aspect and the frantic combat aspect. I kept getting killed trying to collect wood so having to switch modes took some adjusting. I agree with others, the map was HUGE. Without an actual guide, it was easy to get lost. The controls, though unconventional, actually reminded me of the first Resident Evil so I was able to adjust rather quickly. Nonetheless, it's a nice entry and impressive you made all this including assets in the 7 day period!

It was hard, thank you for your feedback!

Congrats for making this game by yourself, but i would also like to give some constructive criticism: I would have prefered if the map was smaller, it's easy to get lost and it's also quite empty. I didn't know at the start that i could carry wood and sell it, so it would be good if there was a npc at the start that would explain it. There also should be a visual indicator if you are getting shot and bullets should be more visible, they blend with the environment.
