Always nice to read the monthly updates, I'm glad that the raccoon team is good at making a point to step back and avoid burnout! Please take it easy!

Otherwise, maybe I'm the weirdo since I doubt anyone else thought this way but I still felt that I should voice that I was surprised to read that there will actually be NPC sprites? I always thought that having all the characters except the LIs be silhouettes was intentional to really drive in the whole "everyone is a faceless stranger under the mountain" I found that it really emphasized the alienating and mysterious atmosphere of the market. Anyhow, all this is to say, as it's quite exciting to get to see the faces you've envisioned for many important NPCs part of me can't help feel just a little disappointed that it's not left up to my imagination. Is it a lot to ask for a toggle or mode where you can play with shadow NPCs only?

I understand it's probably an odd/extra/annoying ask so totally understandable if ya'll just ignore this and carry on as planned. But I just felt like I should at least mention because I love the game as it feels and reads now.

Thank you!

NPC sprites have always been part of our "would be nice to have" checklist, for things that we didn't have resources for (time and money, in this case) but wanted to do, but we also don't like making promises we can't keep, so we haven't been promising to fill them in. That's probably why you're surprised. But right now we're in a sweet spot of development where Mugi doesn't need to fully focus on making art for the new chapters (since they're still being written), and we've got some money thanks to everyone's kind support, so we figured we'll go for it.

Adding a toggle is a possibility (it would just darken the new sprites until they're fully black, which pretty simple to program), though I don't think we'll go back to a world where literally everyone but the love interests is a silhouette. It's like you said: it makes everyone feel like a faceless stranger, which is great for the character you meet during the parties on Oleander's route, but less appropriate for the Mouse Hole characters on Keir's route.

Hey, thanks for the reply, I really wasn't expecting something at all or so quick!

Appreciate the explanation, it does make sense. I'm happy to hear you've given my suggestion some consideration and that it might not be too hard to implement. And yeah, I think I do agree with you about how it makes less sense for the Mouse Hole characters since they're more like major NPCs. But that it would be great to have shadows for the random party patrons on Oleander's route or the various odd shop-keeps from the market (And that would help keep the art requirements lower so Mugi can focus on the key NPCs?)

Again, thanks for the response, and I hope ya'll can still take it easy! Something something, slow and steady right?
