  • Cool game concept (very original), and impressive smooth menu interactions and 3D elements. Would've appreciated a few more gentle intro levels to learn the ropes a bit faster - most times I got a 'checkmate' it wasn't quite clear on why. The game consistently crashed for me on puzzle 2, but is otherwise nicely polished.
  • Nice entry! It's a shame that I'm not good at this kind of puzzles, because the level of polish is great, especially with the tutorial and the cable link multiplayer. The music can get a bit irritating after a while, though.
  • The game does a good job explaining the backstory and systems. It feels well thought out and the puzzles are cool. The local and link modes are super fun to play! Small detail: the puzzle selection screen has some visual glitches.
  • the 3d selected unit visualizer is a really nice touch, and the presentation with the 'instruction manual' pager is very unique (if intimidating! reading long instructions before getting into gameplay was making me worried it'd be hard to get into, but thankfully it was fine)
  • Amazing concept, beautifully designed and with a theme/lore that suits the mechanics perfectly. Sadly it's a bit buggy, in single player it can crash, and the link-cable multiplayer is prone to vanishing pieces and desyncs. The puzzle mode also feels a bit flawed: Sometimes I'm forced to put myself in danger while the CPU player skips all their turns, which feels unfair. Other times the CPU player makes bad decisions, which makes me feel like I didn't really solve anything, just got lucky. These issues are all solvable (though might require replacing some of the puzzles) and I would love to see a fixed/improved version, as I think this game shows a lot of promise!
  • Very fun, I'm going to keep playing this one! On puzzle 2, I started getting error screens, ERROR in bn_optional.h, value::400 Optional is not valid. (First slide the mouse character tile downwards, then right twice, capturing two pieces. Then, moving any other piece causes an optional error).

Ok - understood! I attached the GBA ROM file as "MYGAMENAME_jam.gba".

I managed to find a crash in puzzle 2 that happens every time I do this (the last action is me going down). However, really cool game!

thanks for your comment! we managed to fix it, very specific one related with the portraits. We missed it in our quick tests before submission

Good to hear!

Excellent. I love the gameplay and the dark fantasy vibes.

Wow thanks! Very happy to hear it gives that dark fantasy vibes! It was one of our main goals

Amazingly polished! I love the entire presentation and the 3D portraits are superb! The gameplay is very simple but has a lot of depth, specially as levels progress. The local multiplayer is a great but the actual cabled multiplayer is an insane addition!

Thanks a lot! We are thinking on designing new levels without adding new mechanics. Glad to hear you see it having a lot of depth :^)

Thanks! We put extra effort on the game feel since the gameplay was turn based

Really delightful! It can be a bit tricky to select the piece you want to move at times but otherwise an entirely polished and easy to play game.

Thank you so much! Where you selecting with the D-Pad or with L/R buttons? Do you have any suggestions on how it could feel smoother or what felt tricky?

I ended up using LR to cycle since I simply could not select the piece I wanted to move using the arrow keys. I think the arrow keys having selection be by closest distance in that general direction could maybe help?

There is currently no way to select the following piece using the arrow keys (my expectation would be UP would get me there)

I see! Good catch indeed. From this one if you press UP you get to the one you mentioned. I will look into this and polish the algorithm. Thanks!
