Rock Wizard!!! what's not to love. This was an amazing style, the music, art, and theme were so good and it felt like such a classic arcade style game. I felt like I was playing Castlevania. And the music was so uplifting! Very cool and it made me feel like a cool wizard.

A couple things that I thought this game would improve from: For the first stage, the instructions weren't very clear so it was a little frustrating. There should be an obvious direction to charge the bar at the top, maybe a charging sound when casting. I wasn't sure what my casting was doing for the longest time in the beginning. Still not sure what the "2" was next to the breathing timer either.  In the final level, it was really challenging so I think being able to pop the bubbles with the missile could help balance the challenge nicely. A sound when you get hit would be helpful. A simple animation loop doing something cool like at the end would be a very satisfying reward at the end. All in all, ROCK star game. I wanna see the wizard shred that broomstick like a guitar haha.

Star Sage returns! The sand castle one was one of my favorites, that jam.

This is awesome too, but with some tragic misses.

  • I took way too long to realize that the counter in level 1 is air, as opposed to global time remaining. Give us some louder feedback when he breaches the surface, that should make it more obvious.
  • Levels 2 and 3, it’s hard to even notice when you’ve taken damage. And that means it’s hard for the player to probe his hitbox’s limits by trial and error. Kind of frustrating.

My first try (well, my first like forty tries) in level 2, I kept dashing and kept getting killed. Then did it once dashless and got thru without getting hurt at all. That’s…. an important life lesson for me :)

It’s a shame that the first level is so hard to understand, because two and three are so cool. Players that give up too easy won’t get to see the wicked cool boss.

I originally rated this all 0 because I was clicking the start button and nothing was happening, so I assumed it was broken. Then I pressed the space bar. I still couldn't figure it out until I read the other comment, then it all made sense. It's really good! I absolutely love the chiptune music and the sfx are great! The 2nd level, with the ... things...? coming towards you is done really well, except that they pretty much never come on the right side of the screen, so you can mostly just stay there and hold space. On the bubble boss level, I got knocked off screen by a pillar, and it glitched the game out, forcing me to restart from the beginning. I wish there was feedback when getting hit in the 2nd level. I also wish there was more!

This one has been my favorite so far, very fun, very epic and fun to play. The only feedback is the same as other comments here, instructions are not clear, I had to figure it out, now, this is not entirely bad, be being a fan of old classic games, I remember when games didn't give you instructions at all and you had to just press buttons and try things and see what happens haha I just think that in this time and age... people might get turned off from that.

Aside of that, great game!!

So this was actually very fun once I figured it out what I was supposed to be doing, but that took like 10 plays just for the first stage. You've got a great game, but I think it needs a more clear explanation of the mechanics/objective.

  • Stage 1: I thought the countdown was how long I had to dodge/survive, and almost stopped playing thinking the game was bugged cuz it kept restarting me every 30 seconds. Once I figured out the 30-sec countdown was air, and the objective was to fully charge my spell, it was smooth sailing.
  • Stage 2: The spell feels outright detrimental. It makes you go faster, I think, but it also makes the obstacles hit way faster with less time to dodge.  I think it'd work better if the spell worked like the star powerup in Mario Kart (temp speed + invincible), but you lost spell charge if you got hit? Or something like that.
  • Stage 3: Actually no critique here, it was fun. Felt like a Terraria easter egg, which I appreciated.

To summarize, tons of potential here, just might need some playtesting to help figure out how to present the mechanics more intuitively.

Thanks for the feedback. Making the character invincible in the second level is a really cool idea; I ended up focusing too much on the challenge itself. I'll try to update the game after the voting period, but no promises, haha.

Hey, pretty good game ! Solid gameplay inspired by the classic arcade game with pretty good art too. I managed to get to the second part but I would have liked if in 1st part it was clearer that oxygen is also monitered, great game overall !
