Fantastic project! I have a question regarding the rules: what are some examples of large arcana? Would these be like two-handed staves, or something else I'm overlooking?

Thank you for the clarification! I have a couple of more questions if you are down to answer them:
Do PCs usually roll when using their arcana? I know they roll for attacks and contested checks, but let’s say an arcana called “The Egg of Unlocking” is used to try and open a door in another zone, costing 1 inspiration. Would a d20 check to see if the arcana worked be appropriate? I’m not against PCs rolling for such a thing but was curious if that was your intent.
Adventuring gear can be freely obtained in safe havens, but does this apply to weapons and armor? I believe it does, but arcana cannot be obtained in this way.
Thank you once more! I’m having fun making a Frankenstein game with this and Knave 2e
of course! thank you for asking :)
the rules for arcanas are meant to specifically replace spell books/slots, so magic items outside of that scope may not necessarily act the same as an item meant to encode fireball (e.g.). a magic item which allows you to spend inspiration to open a door is totally fair game! that being said, when it comes to things like fireball, i’ve been considering switching from spending inspiration to just treating it like any other weapon or tool: the user checks D20, the roll determines how well it goes (including how many enhancements are earned), and the user can spend inspiration to improve their roll. haven’t tested that yet, but it feels fairer and more fun to me than just running out of inspiration.
i treat weapons and armor as items that can be traded basically 1:1. they’re more expensive than day-to-day gear, so acquiring them may take a favor, but they’re not as valuable as treasure.
have fun with your frankenstein!
