I have a projects I've been wanting to make for a while and this jam seemed like it would work. It's a text-based sandbox RPG. Is that allowed?

Hm, I'm gonna go ahead and say no not really if you're talking about just text like using it as a visual novel? :0c It should be a proper RPG game since the jam was born out of engines like RPG maker and stuff and invokes a pretty clear type of game.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean (possibly bc I'm dealing with a flu rn lol)

No worries! Text-based RPGs are pretty niche so I understand if you're not familiar with them but if you feel that visual are a key part of RPG games for this jam then my game wouldn't fit what you want to allow. Still, thank you for answering my question.

while i personally love text games, i just don't think they're in spirit of this particular jam! but i do run a bi-monthly VN jam so perhaps that could be a better fit if you're looking to join something. c:

Hm... My impression is Starlit is asking about a game whose interface is entirely text, and artistotel is talking about a game whose character-actions are basically responding to text. Though... come to think of it, I'm not sure how to tell between the two-- lots of visual novels can have stats + repeated loops, so it's not just a dialogue tree, and if you aren't displaying a map in your text interface, ...

Good to know, though, since I'm more likely to make a visual novel than a real RPG, even if it has an overhead map...
