Loved the vibes. The main gameplay music got a bit repetitive, but all the audio and graphics were really cool anyway. Especially the narrative art! Good palette choice too.
The gameplay and theme interpretation are also good. Nice game size for a jam.
Great work! :)
Cute, quick game! I really loved all the visuals--everything was very readable with the white character outlines and reticule. The music was fun, too! The upgrades didn't feel particularly meaningful and it surprised me a bit that there wasn't anything to find in the dirt (or, if there was, I didn't find it!), but the game was so short and sweet it didn't get boring. Great work! :)
Very cute! I really appreciate the attention to detail across the board, and the power scaling of the upgrades felt great. I think the one thing I wanted would've been some added complexity to the dirt fields themselves like them being harder to reach, and them being more organically shaped or having non-diggable terrain floating inside.
Thank you very much !
Yeah I totally agree, I would have loved to add more diversity to the dirt, like maybe a second level that's hard to navigate, visually different blocks that are harder to break and a more diverse surface. Maybe in the future ? :)
A cutscene in this economy?!? Amazing. I am usually not into these collect & upgrade games, but here I think that you nailed the pacing! The last shovel upgrade is absurdly fast and that was also very funny 😆 I really loved it!
Very small nitpick: fonts throughout the game do not look uniform (odd shadows in menus & 5th color black core text not on the pixel grid in the main scene). It is still a 5/5 for graphics don’t worry :)
Really great game, loved leveling up my character, loved the aesthetic, loved the music, the planet was very charming and the addition of moles made it feel alive, the way you convert dirt into gold inside your ship is so rewarding, and the satisfaction to have full upgrades and just dig at high speed was amazing.
Thanks for making this game, it was a quick and satisfying experience. Great job!
Thank you so much ! It's funny cause our games were pretty similar, and were fun for the same reasons :)
Yes ! I even hesitated to do a shop to upgrade the character at the surface ahah
Maybe the caveman is an ancestor of your pilot 😌
Absolutely amazing, all 5 stars from me. Fun, fast progress, it took me 5 minutes to exit the planet and i felt every upgrade influence. Game design is the best. Flawless!
Oh wow, thank you so much ! I'm so glad you had a good time :)
The graphics look very nice , i really like your choice of palette, i didnt finish it but i think its an interesting story
Loved this game! It really brought back the Motherlode nostalgia for me! Amazing art and intro cutscene. The music is chill, fits the vibe. As someone has already mentioned, the font in the store and the "core" in the bottom left corner have subpixel shadows, so it would not be possible on an actual GameBoy display. Otherwise, great job!
The art compliments mean a lot coming from you, thank you !
And yeah I spotted and fixed so many little things that did not want to stay in the display resolution (like the particle shader, oh god the particle shader...) but somehow the font ended up 1 px too small and with a weird half-pixel offset. Oh well.
Blown away by the all the pixel art scenes you had in this game! Great work. I had a blast shredding through the dirt with the final shovel :)
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you had fun !
I don't really like the gameplay, but graphics and sounds are awesome. Also, your font isn't scaling to 160x144p
Noooooooo I was so careful and tweaked so many things so it aligned to the grid, even remade the font to a bitmap so it scaled ! But the font parameters were 1px too small and the outline was somehow offset by 0.5px T.T
Thanks for telling me, at least it's fixed in the post-jam version :)
This is an amazing game!
The pixel art is perfect, as so is the music.
I thought you were supposed to find a big treasure in the core of the planet, but paying your way out of there makes more sense given the initial context, lol.
Thank you so much !
To be honest that's probably what will end up happening if I find the time to expand on this project :)
Dude, loved the game!! Very fun to walk around and play... After a while I wasn't sure what I needed to do but after talking to the boss I understood it :) Great job and nice art!
Wow really nice art and lead in cinimatic.
Thank you very much ! I agree, Odis and 1010 did a really great job on these :)
