How does your game meet GBJam's theme
The main character is a grave robber and is looking to pay off his debt by stealing the "old gold" of deceased individuals from their tombs.

I loved how fun the game was with the small dialogue interactions aswel as unique dungeons.
I sadly died at the Aztects dungeon cause I didn't found myself at the time I got spiked to death. (Didn't know those blocks teleport or idk what the uniqueness was in that temple sorry)
This game is a reall gameboy game tho. I would see myself playing it for a longer time!
Love the choices before each dungeon, keeps every run different. Really nails the gameboy feel too
Fun game! I really enjoyed the art and the music. I didn't have an issue with the font like some others in terms of reading, I just think the border under the bottom line of text is big and could be smaller, but that is just a personal preference and didn't take away from the game at all. Great work!
Thank you for playing but I don't know why the font looks messed up all of a sudden. Two comments in a row now about the font being messed up.. I've seen other people play it and it looked fine but then for some it doesn't work properly. I'm sure I did something wrong, just wish I know what is causing it!
Not sure what happened with your font, but sadly it made my playthrough almost impossible as text was garbled up. Quite a shame in this regard as the game seems like an interesting roguelike move on roads crawl into static dungeons. Puzzles inside the dungeons felt okay, that said there a few indicator which could have been more clear (pirate broken floor and falling stone shadows on top of you)
Graphically the games looks okay, except the font getting messed up, colors are well chosen and we have multiple palettes!
Music and sfx were nice, well done on those!
Overall interesting entry!
Really cool game, quite difficult but I like it, I liked the design and the music, looks like a lot of effort went into making it, well done!
I really liked it. I wish the stats were made clearer (especially Focus, which I now know helps combat but isn't obvious how), and it's *way* too easy to fall into holes (making higher speed as much of a drawback as a buff). I thoroughly enjoyed the between-tomb vignettes and the little rewards they gave. The music was extremely catchy. It wasn't entirely clear that you had to pick up the sword to fight the bosses (or even that it *was* a boss), though I did like the mechanic where you "lose" your sword after each hit and had to go pick it up again.
Is it actually possible to get the 500 coins to pay off Mr. Richard Richjerk, or will that be in a more-finalized version? :D
Hey GUP! Thanks so much for playing our game and also streaming it. All your feedback is completely valid and I'm glad you got some enjoyment from it.
Something that is a recurring comment is that certain things (like some of the stats and boss indications) were not very clear, so we'll definitely try to take that into our next Jam. Hope to see you there!
Strange but super endearing entry. Getting kidnapped and blackmailed by Mr Monopoly man sure wasn't on my bucket list.
It's doing tons of different thing, expect you to be on board with whatever new gameplay it throws at you, gets unfairly difficult right from the start. I love it, it's exactly how games from those era felt as a kid, very nice job replicating the harsh design ethos of the time.
I really appreciate the semi-oregon trail rpg you have when navigating between tombs. Accumulating ressources before going dungeon diving is such a neat mecanic. I'm guessing all the focus I'm getting is helping me making combat easier right ? Everything felt pretty self explanatory but I had my doubt about this one.
You dungeons are all very good. I appreciate you letting the player start from any of them (especially since I feel like the ghost ship is a way better level 1 that the pyramid). Arrows are the only trap that I felt were a bit unfair. Them being so much faster than the character but having a larger hitbox that expected makes them a bit frustrating to evade.
All in all, very nice entry. Probably one of my favorites. Great job. You get a softlock at the greek temple when the player refuse every dungeon before that however !
Thank you so much for playing our game and I'm very happy you got some enjoyment out of it and gave it such a thorough playtrough.
You're right on all your feedback of course (and yes, you're also right on focus. It does make the battles easier.)
The arrows have since also been adjusted, along with a heap of other things. I'm expecting to put a much more complete version out after the Jam review period.
Richard Richardson doesn’t mess around, great jam entry! Pixel art was very clear and gameboy-like, and the palette was used effectively! Background music was a bop!
The random travelling events were fun, saw new ones even after 5+ deaths, and the level design on the dungeons was tricky but not frustrating, feeling more puzzley than anything - when i did die, it felt like it was my fault which is good, rather than unfair design!
Solid use of theme! Only thing that wasn’t clear was what focus was for, otherwise the rest was intuitive. Overall very good entry!
Fun game! The different environments are cool and I liked the way the gameplay sections are broken up.
One technical thing: I played on browser because I'm on Linux, and for whatever reason the text wasn't scaling properly so I couldn't fully read it.
I also think the music would be better with a longer loop.
Great game; the gameplay is quite difficult and demands focus, but it is rewarding.
I had a really good time with this one. I especially liked the random choices before entering the dungeon, they add a nice bit of variety and make each run feel a little different.
I also really liked the art. Out of all the games I've played in the jam so far, this is probably the one that gave me the strongest actual Game Boy feeling, both visually and in the overall presentation.
I found the game a bit difficult at times, but not in a frustrating way. Overall, it was a really nice experience and definitely one of the entries that stood out to me so far.
Pretty fun and had some pretty hard gameplay! Definitely landed the GB soul in there, liked the intro too. Great submission.
Nice opening, starting on a black screen because hes blindfolded is a great way to use the limitation. and the rest study artifacts pick berries choice before the dungeon gives the run some shape before you even get there. nice job
I think the dialogue was quite funny and the game gives of a really nice nostalgic vibe, only issue is what you already said yourself about the difficulty being a bit skewed: in the haunted ship, the arrow and the sword at the boss was especially difficult, and the arrows overall feel a little bit quick. But, I genuinely like the game and I think it fits the theme well, super well done on your first jam!
