There are some really cool ideas here. I especially liked the cartridge animation, and the whole concept of gathering gold to build up the island is genuinely interesting.

That said, I had a hard time understanding what I was supposed to do for quite a while. The description mentions mines, but I couldn't find them, and I only realised I had to use the boat because I had seen it in the screenshots. I also discovered the gun pretty late, which made some enemies feel impossible to deal with at first.

Mining could also use a bit more feedback. It took me a while to realise that spamming the button doesn't help and that you need to wait for the animation to finish between hits. After spending 40 coins I also built something, but I couldn't really tell what it did.

The sound became a bit repetitive after a while too.

In the end, though, I did have fun with it. The core idea is good, but I think it still needs quite a bit of polishing and clearer feedback to make everything easier to understand.

Really fun game, and the visuals gave me a strong classic Game Boy feeling. Nicely done!

One suggestion: it would be great to have a way to recover the coins after a mistake, or at least restart only the current section instead of having to repeat everything.

Thanks for playing!

The controls feel really satisfying. Even just moving around and jumping feels great, and I also really liked the art style.

It took me a little while to understand what was going on, though. Everything moves pretty fast and the objectives aren't always very clear, so a bit more guidance at the beginning could help a lot.

Really fun idea with the bartender. I enjoyed the concept a lot!

This is probably the most polished game I've played in the jam so far.

The visuals are really well done, and the music fits the game perfectly while still having a nice amount of variety.

The hook mechanic is great, and the feedback when you use it to anchor yourself to the environment feels incredibly satisfying. The different surfaces and ways you can use the hook feel varied but still intuitive, and the level design is really well thought out too. I especially appreciated how it avoids making you repeat long sections every time you fail.

I also loved the idea of leaving your previous bodies behind after you die.

It took me a little while to realise I could also hook onto the brambles, but other than that everything felt very readable.

Really impressive work!

Really fun game, and the background music absolutely rocks!

The use of the theme felt a little stretched to me, but the game itself was definitely a lot of fun to play.

Really nice visuals and sound, and I liked the unusual way the coins are used in the gameplay.

Also, thank god there's a button to undo your last move. 😄

I really liked the art, and especially the sound and music. Great work on the presentation!

I wasn't able to finish it, though. I found it a little hard to understand what I was supposed to do, so maybe a few clearer hints or visual cues would help guide the player. After a few attempts I got a bit lost and eventually stopped playing.

Honestly, not much to criticize here. One of the best games I've played in the jam so far. The visuals, audio and gameplay all work really well together. Great job!

Yeah, that makes sense, and it could definitely be a solution worth considering.

At the same time, I liked keeping a bit of surprise in the tree. I don't really want the player to study the whole progression path in advance and plan exactly where to go, especially for this kind of game.

Still, these are really useful points to think about. Thanks for the feedback!

Really nice game, I ended up playing it a few times. I especially liked the art, and the starting room looks fantastic!

Really nice concept, and I especially liked the color palette.

Thanks a lot for the thoughtful feedback! The speed upgrade was actually something I went back and forth on too.

The original idea was that only party-wide upgrades would unlock new character branches. Regeneration felt way too strong to place that early, and during the jam I didn't find another party upgrade that fit the spot as well.

That said, your point makes sense, and it's definitely something I'd reconsider.

Thanks for playing and leaving a comment! I'm really glad the pacing and melancholic atmosphere came through (that was very much the mood I was aiming for 😉)

Really nice palette choice, it gives the game a distinctive look. I also found the way the coins fit together really satisfying.

Overall, a fun game and a cool idea!

A really nice take on snake! I had fun playing it, and the evolution mechanic was a great addition.

The movement and actions feel really smooth, and the game is genuinely fun to play. I also really liked the visuals and the music.

If I had one suggestion, it would be to add a few more visual hints in the environment. Since the level is quite maze-like, after a while it can be hard to tell where you are or whether you've already been somewhere, and I found myself going in circles a few times.

Other than that, really nice work!

Thanks for the comment! I really appreciate you noticing the title design too, that was one of those small details I spent more time on than I probably should have.

Thanks for playing! I'm glad the upgrade loop came across clearly

I had a really good time with this one. I especially liked the random choices before entering the dungeon, they add a nice bit of variety and make each run feel a little different.

I also really liked the art. Out of all the games I've played in the jam so far, this is probably the one that gave me the strongest actual Game Boy feeling, both visually and in the overall presentation.

I found the game a bit difficult at times, but not in a frustrating way. Overall, it was a really nice experience and definitely one of the entries that stood out to me so far.

Thanks for giving it a try! I'm glad you spent some time with it. There are definitely things I'd like to expand and refine after the jam, so feedback like this is really useful.

Thanks for playing and for taking the time to leave a comment! Mend is definitely a little OP, even though I spent a lot of time trying to balance it as best I could.

The fighter was actually meant to lean more into the tank role, while the wizard was supposed to have more DPS. There was originally going to be a fourth hero dedicated to healing, but I had to cut that idea because of the time.

Thanks for sticking with it all the way to the end — and apparently even beyond what I expected anyone to do! 😄 I honestly didn't account for someone trying to unlock everything after beating the final boss, so you may have uncovered a little bug there. Thanks for pointing it out, and for taking the time to leave feedback!

Thanks a lot for taking the time to play through the whole game and write such a detailed comment. It really means a lot, especially for a small jam project. I already have a few ideas I'd like to experiment with if I decide to expand it after the jam. =)

Really fun to play! I liked the color switching mechanic, and especially the variety of bosses and weapons.

Best use of the theme ever! 😄

That said, I got to around 3,500 in five minutes, so I don't think I'm going to try reaching the 100K goal. =)

Really fun game! I had a great time with it, and I especially liked the music. =)

I had some trouble figuring out the controls at first, since they aren't explained anywhere. I eventually managed to reach the second screen, but once I got there I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do.

A small hint about the controls and the objective would make the game much easier to understand and enjoy.

A simple but nice little platformer.

I reached the end flag with 5 coins, but nothing seemed to happen, so I wasn't sure if I had actually completed the game or if I was missing something.

Really fun game! I had a great time playing it, and I especially liked the art style.

I would have liked some kind of score or progress indicator, just to have a better idea of how close I was to reaching the end.

Thank you so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
The issues you mentioned are known problems, and I definitely would have liked to have more time to fix some bugs and complete those features.
I'm glad you enjoyed the style and story, and I hope to keep developing the project further!

Thank you so much for the compliment! <3
Also, thanks for reporting the small bug;

I really like the style, and the eerie musical background.

Really cool!

The art is amazing! Did you do everything by hand on Decker?

Hi, I just wanted to tell you that I really enjoyed your game, and I even used it to learn  Decker, so thank you!!!

If you want to check out what I managed to create, here’s the link!! ;)
