How does your game meet GBJam's theme
This is a pirate-themed bullet heaven game, drenched in gold. I envisioned a fictional arcade competitor to the MS-DOS classic "Sid Meier's Pirates!"

Makes really fun, I love your idea and concept! Missing background music. Also a sound for the anchor dash would improve it alot!!!

Developer

Thank you!! Your appreciation warms my cold dead heart. I ended up leaving the music just on the title and menus because I felt the soundscape was already very full with sfx, especially later when things ramp up. There is an anchor dash sfx but I think you're right, it could be much improved. Thanks for checking out the game

RAMMING SPEED! Very rarely do you see games where you -want- to ram your vehicle into another. Great work!

Developer

Thanks Seraph, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I was messing with the idea of "kedging" the anchor, where the boat is pulled towards the anchor, kinda stumbled on this mechanic and just rolled with it. Should I have called the game "Kedgelord"? No. No, I probably should not.

X3 I'm a sucker for silly names, so I feel like I would've appreciated it at least. ^^

The movement is really interesting, the hitboxes felt a bit off at times but the anchor slingshot mechanics are really fun to play arround with. The graphics are also really neat, cool game!

Developer

Thank you for playing! Yeah, I had this anchor idea and just really went for it! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

the game is really fun, i like in particular the movement of the ship. Really good!!

Developer

Thanks for playing Tizio! Glad you enjoyed it. Next ship game, I should do something with commanding crew like you had in yours :)

Slingshot peww! The tutorial felt like it both helped and hindered game understanding. You did a great job finding the balance between awkward ship sailing feel and comfortable motion in such a short time. I didn't hear any music during my playthrough but did get sound effects

Developer

Yes, thank you, I've been trying to figure out how to translate sailing into satisfying game mechanics for awhile now, so I'm glad that paid off for you. I'd love it if you could expand on what "helped and hindered" in the tutorial, I'm making a special effort lately to improve my tutorialization, so I'd really be interested to know what worked and what didn't for you in some more detail.
