Godot Version
4.7.2.stable

Theme Interpretation
The timing gets progressively faster, through infinite procedurally generating music. While perfect timings will subdue the doom, the difficulty curve makes doom imminent.

This is a seriously solid idea for a game. Well done!

Yeah, like some other games, this game was in the playlist for the long time because I was excited cuz it's a rhythm game, good entry, very fun

Would be more exciting if procedural music also had a beat loop and had better rhythm handling, still very good for 9 days

Developer

Thank you for trying out the game!, I agree, the procedural music design can definitely use more work (Wish I had all 9 days, its college season for me 😭)

i love how it gets more pixelated when you make a mistakes! simpple yet really fun consept. i'd love to see a bit more of "gameplay juise" like some camera shake effect or stuff like that

Developer

Thank you for playing!, I tried to include some camera shakes, but I forgot to add the ones for guessing correct notes, effects are always cool.

Very neat concept! I'd love to see how the procedural music works under the hood. Like a few others have said, it was hard to figure out the timing, although I had chalked it up to me not having any coffee yet. The controls were interesting, but I don't see that as a downside, they ended up being easy enough to pick up. Overall, a solid entry!

Thank you for the kind words!, The algorithm starts out with a bass, and a sort of sub/base. The main theme begins with a randomized 10 second section, and the rest utilizes a Markov chain. (That's the overall algorithm anyways, the randomized 10 second section isn't totally random, it tries to stay in a key and shift up and down by a weighted amount)

That is really cool! I wouldn't have thought to use a Markov chain like that, though tbh I haven't really worked with them since my college days

What a brain bending core mechanic! Part of me wishes the game started at a faster tempo, but I could see myself playing this for a long time.

Developer

Thank you!, I decided to start a little slower this run because I tend to begin games at too high a difficulty level, maybe I took it a little far haha.

I struggled with the timing since it didn't seem like the taps actually matched up with the music. But this is a really cool idea! The procedural music is a really cool addition, and I like the visuals a lot :)

Developer

Thank you for playing!, you're right, the timings are a little off due to the gradual fade in and out of notes as well as the large click hitbox

The procedural music is a cool touch, other than that it's a pretty solid rhythm game

Developer

Thank you!, love that you enjoyed the procedural music!

I like the way the center sort of acts as black hole visually distorting the notes. I think the audio could have some distortion effect like that too. It's impressive that you were able to build the music generator.

Developer

Thank you!, sound distortion would be an awesome idea, I totally overlooked that

You’ve done really well here, at first through F and J was a weird control choice but it worked well and i love the pixel shader for “health”

Developer

Thank you very much!, I'm glad you enjoyed the pixel shader!

Good entry! Interesting concept with the procedural music. I struggled with this a bit  even though I'm normaly pretty good with rhythm games. It was just hard to get the rhythem when the key presses didnt fell linked to the music

Developer

Thank you for the kind words. I absolutely agree, some of the notes are slightly off rhythm due to their sound wave starting when the center of a tile hits the circle. In hindsight, I should have offset it so the waves align. Once again, thank you!

Very interesting concept. I'm fascinated by the procedural music

Developer

Thank you very much!, the algorithm took longer than expected haha

Developer

My best score is 1129900 with a 108x best combo, try to beat it!

Good luck and have fun, this game was a pleasure to make!
