While the game perfectly replicates the gameboy, and the gameplay is top notch, the graphics look like they were drawn by a kid or someone who is new to pixel art, and the music is quite annoying, good job on submitting the jam entry on time!

Yeah I'm still quite new to drawing pixel art and making music so I'll keep working on that. Thanks for playing!

Everything has already been said below. It’s hard to get started if you don't really know what to do. Also, the sounds get a bit annoying after a few minutes. But you have my full respect for doing this all solo!

This game has a lot of potential! Like the reviewer said below, I couldn't really understand what to do to find the mines. The music did get annoying after a while as well. Keep working on it!

There are some really cool ideas here. I especially liked the cartridge animation, and the whole concept of gathering gold to build up the island is genuinely interesting.

That said, I had a hard time understanding what I was supposed to do for quite a while. The description mentions mines, but I couldn't find them, and I only realised I had to use the boat because I had seen it in the screenshots. I also discovered the gun pretty late, which made some enemies feel impossible to deal with at first.

Mining could also use a bit more feedback. It took me a while to realise that spamming the button doesn't help and that you need to wait for the animation to finish between hits. After spending 40 coins I also built something, but I couldn't really tell what it did.

The sound became a bit repetitive after a while too.

In the end, though, I did have fun with it. The core idea is good, but I think it still needs quite a bit of polishing and clearer feedback to make everything easier to understand.

Looking back I probably made my game description a bit too vague and kept the tutorial inside the controls section in-game which was probably a bad idea. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks for playing and sharing your thoughts.
