Really nice adventure type game! As I'm sure you've seen in others, the collision is a little wonky but not to a point that makes the game unplayable. It does do a great job of capturing the GB soul so full marks in that category!

This was delightful! The puzzles were super fun, and the characters and character of the writing made me smile the whole way through! It’s a cute little goblin family~

My biggest issue is some of the collision handling seems a bit off, which made navigating the cave (and family) a little bit difficult at times. (I also really liked the boombox being “stuck” on only one track hahaha)

Developer

Yeah I am planning on making those feel a lot better. I had plans for being able to change the music with the boombox but since I couldn't make music I thought sounded good I decided to just make it be stuck. Thanks for playing and the feedback! It means a lot!

I really enjoy the gameboy soul of this game! It is simple and brought back memories of final fantasy on the gameboy. Gameplay was smooth and easy to understand. Good job on this

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for the nice words! It was a lot of fun to make and I can't wait for the next GBJam!

the game is charming, tho movement leaves a lot to be desired. Great job!

Developer

Thank you very much for playing and the feedback!

Really good job- this was a very charming experience. I think I did run into a slight bug in the 5-chest room? It didn't really impact anything, but selecting 'No' on the prompt to open the 'finely made chest' still opened the chest ( or at least, displayed the text indicating that the chest was opened). I did also run into not being able to open the spider chest unfortunately, despite trying to interact with it on all bordering tiles.

This was a really nice and varied experience, especially considering it was a new engine to you! Congrats :)

Developer

Wow, thank you for all the insight! The chest bug is a new one I will need to dive in on and fix. I appreciate you playing and giving some feedback!

this is actually a good first project you made, remembered the good old times where I was always stuck in the cave areas in Pokemon gbc games lol.  the OST can get annoying after a while but overrall I like it!

Developer

Thanks so much! I am proud of what I made for my first time but will aim to improve the sound design for future projects and hopefully go back and fix it in this.

Great job! I like the MGS reference and the cute artstyle!

Developer(+1)

I had to add a MGS reference lol. Thank you for the kind words and playing! Means a lot!

Great art and dialogues. The music gets a little annoying after a few minutes. Overall, great job!

Developer

Music was definitely my short-coming but hopefully I can make it less annoying in the future! Thanks for the play/review!

Submitted(+1)

Fun little adventure, what a cool first game for sure. I like the dialogue, I like the references to other games like MGS3 in the ladder section. Good Gameboy soul also

Developer

Thanks so much for the kind words! If you have any constructive criticism too I am open to it!

Submitted(+1)

This is amazing for a first game. especially the interactivity of everything

Developer

That is so nice of you to say! I am proud of my work but can see there is much to be worked on to get it where I envisioned it! If you have any advice I am open to it!

Submitted(+1)

Great game! The fact that it was made in GB Studio makes it even more impressive. Great job! :)

Developer

Thank you very  much for the nice words! If you have any suggestions/critics I would love to hear them so I can keep improving!

Good art direction, music was  very repetitive. I liked all the quips.

Developer

I appreciate you saying such nice things! I hope to release a version after with a less annoying soundtrack and better SFX after the jam.

Nice art and I liked the story details but the music was very repetitive

Developer

I need to play around with the music maker more for sure! Thanks for the nice words!

I loved the goblins design and the worlds art style overall. It was a really fun exprience and I loved the Goblins dialogue. Great job!

Developer

Means a lot coming from you! If you have anything you think needs work/more attention let me know!

Wow, not the type of game that I like but really good art, music and it really feels like a gameboy game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the kind words! I am glad it really emulated that GameBoy feeling!

I had the same issue being unable to open the final chest after killing the spider. But I enjoyed my time playing the game otherwise.

Developer(+1)

Sorry to hear that! I had a hard time getting the interactables to be easy to interact with. It requires a weird spot I think for the character. Thanks for the feed back none the less!

Momma Gob the goat. Love that this was made in GB Studio, it really made the game feel like a gameboy game! Grat job, I enjoyed the story and the color palette!

Developer

Wow thank you so much! I appreciate the kind words and am glad it felt like a game boy game!

Much of the same as other folks here. I also had an issue with the chest at the end, I think if you pass by the spider without killing it first it just completely breaks your ability to open it. It was a bit confusing at times figuring out how to do things, like I spent a few minutes trying to figure out how I can use the torch before I recognized the unlit torch I could interact with. I got very confused in the riddle cave (Snake Eater reference is very cheeky, I like it) where I solved the riddle, but I didn't realize the chest down below so I wasn't sure what the result was. I think it was mostly a lack of contrast in the graphics that might have been the problem there. The pathing is a little bit awkward too, a lot of times I'd walk against the wall and be a bit confused that I couldn't walk along it.

Regardless, this has a nice progression for a complete game, and the narrative is very sweet. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Yeah there are some weird bugs I hope to iron out once I can reupload the game! The pathing and stuff really was something I couldn't get to feel right. I appreciate the feedback though so I can go in and make this game work how I first envisioned it.

Submitted(+1)

Neat game, I liked the graphics and writing it was very charming. Agree with other commenters on the music, just too short of a loop for the main gameplay. I got stuck after killing the spider, but had fun with it. Nice job

Developer

Thanks for playing! I think once I can edit the game post-jam I will definitely need to tweak the music! After killing the Spider did it break or it was unclear where to go?

Submitted

Just tried it again, this time I was able to open the chest and get the bombs! First time there was an issue interacting with the chest. Finished it and love the ending scene!! So charming :)

Developer

Sweet! I had a hard time with the obstables and pathing so I think it was an error on my end for sure! Thanks for playing!
