How does your game meet GBJam's theme
Our game matches the secondary theme of the GBJam by using "gold" as a core player mechanic, where the more gold you have, the more upgrades you can get. However, the more gold you have, the lower your speed.

The music was interesting and unique. Gameplay was a little hard to get into, a lot of the sprite work, while pretty, was hard to read during gameplay.

Great Gameboy vibes, and a great song. I'm afraid I couldn't get very far before the rock monsters demolished me. A single rock monster was a big challenge for me, and a lot of early rooms had two or three at a time.

Looks great, although I had to zoom to 25% in my browser to make it look nicer… But I probably just unlucky, but I never found an altar in time to melt gold or get an upgrade. and the enemies are too strong at the beginning. maybe there’s a trick I don’t know?

the room spawning mechanism for the dungeon is on a 8x8 grid with the maximum room count of 35, out of this at least one altar and shrine should spawn (but its not distance based). Maybe I put the probability values of the altars and shrines too low (that's my bad). But thank you for trying out the game nonetheless. If you replay (if you have time or don't mind) the dungeon layout should be completely different! Thank you for your feedback!

Great game! First of all, the pixel art on this looks really nice, and I love the soft yellow color palette.

It was really satisfying to get to one/two-shot the golems after some attack upgrades.

My only constructive feedback is that topdown action games like this would have been better with free movement (like Zelda)  as opposed to tile/grid-based.

Nice work on the procedural room generation.

The chiptune background music was really cool as well.

Keep it up!

tysm for the feedback! This was my first top down 2d game so I didn't really know what to do with the movement but now I know!
