How does your game meet GBJam's theme
the old gold is the old forgotten gold of various pirates, clear the stage to get the treasure map and dig for the gold. in the planets the little alienito is gathering to pay off his gambling debt

also it's just some good ol' fun gathering some good ol' gold.

i love the visuals of this game! super cute. i didn't see my health? i'm not sure if i actually ever took damage. nice entry!

I really like this game. The graphics are really cute ! The randomized color palette is so fun (I forgot to add it in my own game lol).

It was nice to play, I found some gold, but it was sooooo hard to stay alive :

  • Because of lack of information : player doesn't have a way to see our current HP. Also sometimes, you don't know if some enemy can damage you just by staying next to you so I thing some flash or screenshake when taking damage would make it more impactful.
  • Mabye just because you have to keep all your HP until the end : I didn't find a way to regen, mabye there is one already ?

Also, the killed enemies reappeared each time you came back to a room, you could use persistance keys to avoid that.

Anyway, that was my feedback, but I really like the soundtrack, very gameboy-like.

Good job !

Eh, It's an okay game, for whatever reason, I sometimes cannot find the stairs, graphics are good, soundtrack is good, overall, I'd say it's okay, you could do better next time.

we'll totally try to, i'd say the game suffered because of my coding and scope.

The art style reminded me of the original tamagotchi gameboy games. Swapping palettes was fun and changed the mood! Really awesome visuals, and music fit the scene well too.

Really fun and quirky game, huge fan of the art and the random color pallete thing. Id say the only thing missing is some sort of ingame tutorial, but regardless it was cool

i sadly had to cut it because of my overscoping, but yeah the consensus seems to be the readability of some aspects, thank you for your kind words!

the fact that you can randomize the color palette immediately makes this a fav. the art is so chaotic and fun, it would be nice to have some UI to show your health and gold amount without having to go to the menu!

Great job on this! This was a lot of fun and just had a surprising amount of features! Maybe if you continue developing you can add some kind of intro or tutorial to introduce the different mechanics and objectives.

IT WAS TOTALLY MY BAD

many more features are already coded, but i got lost thinking i underscoped. i had such a long list of fixes to apply and ended up having to not implement a lot, while not finishing with enough polish to even have a woking ending screen (it's bugged)

hopefully i get to revisit it once the scoring ends

I see, that totally makes sense! It happens so don't worry, hopefully you do get to revisit!

Great intro and starting hub

Nice touch putting randomize palette right in the pause menu, going from the blue set to a deep red one changed the whole mood of the same art. and the cutaway ship drifting through the stars with everything visible inside is a lovely way to open. nice job

Developer

thanks!

hopefully i get to revisit it at a chill pace to actually bugfix and polish
