How did you interpret the themes?
Genre Collision: a desktop puzzle game collides with the genres it makes fun of. M.A.R.K., a "helpful" AI assistant gone mad with boredom, turns each level on the same fake PC into a different genre: a trailer-editor puzzle that breaks into a stickman action run, then a gacha RPG where you shred your own desktop for crystals to beat a rigged auto-battler boss, then a strategy build that turns into a virus outbreak. The puzzle is always the same: beat a system that was built so you cannot win. We found no published second theme for this jam, so the entry answers Genre Collision.

I like the presentation, and I think there's something here, but I had a hard time figuring out what to do. I also found that when I clicked around the tutorial, it seemed to break some of the text, so I had to restart the game a few times. It would be helpful if you had a playthrough video so we can see how the game is meant to be played!
Which level are you stuck on? Please let me know so I can figure out how to clarify things for the player.
I managed to get through the first level using the secret / second ending, as I think I softlocked myself by accidentally deleting the title card in the editor. But, I then got stuck again on the second level - I'm assuming that you're supposed to spend the gems to buy chests until you can get all 4 of the gear items, but I ended up running out of gems. I clicked around a bit to try to figure out other ways to make money, but I wasn't able to find anything (this might be a user error on my part?).
Overall, I think it would be helpful for some more guidance in the first few levels to let us know how to use the different tools available to us on the desktop, and that the player is supposed to explore a bit more.
Got it, buddy. Thanks for the feedback. I've decided to completely redo the level anyway. If you're interested in the project, subscribe—I'll post updates whenever I can.
Got the “good” and “bad” endings for Day 1, and didn’t seem to encounter any bugs except maybe the assistant’s face getting locked into one expression that didn’t seem to make sense. Gave Day 2 a solid try, but I could not beat it.
The presentation is nice, I love a good fake operating system, but buttons getting interacted with when they are behind other buttons or other ui elements made navigating windows difficult, since oftentimes I would accidentally interact with a button or desktop icon that was underneath the window I was looking at.
The genre shift on day one is nice and interesting, and doesn’t overstay is welcome, I like that a fair bit. Overall it’s got a good premise and just needs better conveyance to the player on what options are available to them.
Thanks, friend—that’s valuable feedback for me.
I completely agree with you; even for me, Level 2 felt long, and I need to include more clues. After all, the game is more about humor than racking your brain trying to solve a puzzle.
Liked this one. I can see the inspiration in pony island. Still at some points it was unclear to me how to continue.
Let me know where you ran into trouble, and I'll fix it after the jam session.
Thanks, buddy. Glad to hear that. I hope to release it by summer:)
As I said, I like the design and the execution, but at some points it's a bit unclear what to do next.Still a great game and would enjoy playing it more often
Let me know where you ran into problems, and I'll fix them.
the game is super interesting! my only problem is that at some points i didnt know what im supposed to do. in the mark gameplay i was stuck trying to figure out how to edit / add to the trailer. But the game is funny and the story writing is impressive
Thanks, friend. I'll make the assignment clearer.
