Hey! With FQ9 ending soon, I wanted to let you know that I won't be able to cover your game until after the event. If you're okay with waiting, just keep the game on the event and I'll be getting around to it over the next couple of months or so. :)

Developer

That's no problem, I appreciate you letting me know, I'll keep the game on the event if you want to come back to it later. Thank you.

YOU WIN!!!! Such a cute sound and atmosphere, a relaxing chill mood. It went out pretty fast to get them all, around 20' or so.
I'd love to see more human-cat interactions, to have clear direct benefits from having all of them.

Also on feedback part, I am having a hard time reading some of the custom fonts - but this is not your project but rather I have this issue in all games and web projects, my eyes adapt and parse faster fonts that are simpler. And the scrollbars are not really visible, I see a black bar on the side and I got it that I can go there and scroll, especially where you have 2 scroll areas at once in the same panel - I'd like it if the scroll vertical  container was lighter and the actual scrollbar was smth visible that I can click and drag.

All in all, a cute cozy project. Good luck developing it!

I liked the concept of the game, an incremental game where you run a cat cafe. I played until adopting all the cats, whishing for more game after that, which is a good thing. I liked the visuals, and I can see how this game could grow into something bigger. Some considerations: when I was reading the description, I thought it would be a mannage / simulation game instead of an incremental. The UI could be better; I can see why you have choose that font to relate to a chalkboard signs on coffee shops, but it does not read well on larger texts. And overall I feell that buttons and text boxes could have more padding. For a longer experience, I would consider upgrades that change the gameplay as well, increasing your click area so you can click in multiple cats and customers at once, have more workers on the coffee who can also interecat with cats and customers. Also, more cosmetic changes on the coffee would be awesome. Great job and keep working!

A cute little number-go-up incremental game. I played until I had adopted all the cats, maxed out the automations and gotten my cafe level past 100.

+ Graphics and sound design work really well. The calming background music, click sound and occasional cat noises set a nice soundscape, and the cute pixel art style looks really nice and fits with the gameplay.

+ I haven't played that many incremental games, but the gameplay on this one seemed pretty good. I could get into a nice flow clicking on stuff and upgrading things.

+ It was cute reading the cat's descriptions, and I *think* I noticed that the cats seem to have a different AI each fitting the described personality.

- After the initial unlocking, the automation upgrades felt really low-impact right up until the very end, since theres no visible numbers, and the bars seem to go pretty slowly compared to manually clicking.

- The fonts used in the menus don't really fit with the pixel are style from my perspective, but that might just be me.

~ It would be nice to have more animations for the characters, like the cats playing or the customers drinking coffee, and it might be nice to be able to increase the number of tables and customers further to make the cafe feel busier.

Thank you for playing and the feedback, I'll see what I can do to adjust to the game to your feedback in upcoming patches.

We already know how fun and nice the game is. Therefore, let's go to the negatives:

I don't see the point to spend money on upgrades (Furniture, Barista, Coffee...) if the goal is to adopt all cats and those also cost money. Suggestion: make cats adoptable not by paying for them only, but also by having a good enough reputation of your cafe. The happier customers are - the higher reputation your cafe has. And happier customers are because of better environment, service, coffee, and more cats.

The game still runs on the background while any menu is opened. I can't stay there to read item descriptions or look at my progress, achievements, etc. Not good.

Laser pointer is a waste of money.

Thank you for your feedback, I will take this in consideration for future updates.

This was absolutely adorable!  The execution was well done, and it was a joy to see everything level up over time.  Some general comments (may be out of date, I reviewed it much earlier):

  1. The first level is somewhat long, and players may be confused with the downtime.  Possibly filling the downtime with a few tasks or fidget activities would definitely help get over that initial hump
  2. Some of the upgrades suffer from the 1st Order Optimization problem, where the player should generally choose these options to progress faster through the game.  This isn't necessarily a bad thing in a game of this kind and length.  Just something to be aware of and consider.

The VOD of the review is linked below, and will be available for 60 days from the date of broadcast:

This is such an adorable idea for a idle Rusty's Retirement-style desktop game! Maybe the UI is a bit larger than necessary but looks good tho
good job

I loaded my save from the last time I played. It was nice that I could see the new additions without needing to restart.

The new laser pointer is so much fun! It's a great way to interact with the cats after maxing out cat toys. I wasn't sure at first what I thought of it being a single use item, but the more I thought on it, the more I liked it. If you only had to buy it once, it would have to be a lot more expensive or it would be overpowered. Being single use, it can be priced low enough that it is easier to justify buying one earlier.

The tutorial is a nice addition. The game is overall pretty intuitive, but it is still nice to have more details on things and to be able to go back over anything I may have missed.

Solid update all around.

Hello fellow cat game maker! I had a fun time with your game and really enjoyed the core incremental loop that you have going on.

One little critique that I do have is that it felt a little long from adopting your first cat to getting your first customer and I was starting to worry I had done something wrong. After the 1st customer comes in though, the progression felt like it was in a good place (maybe even a touch fast, but I don't mean that in a negative way in the slightest).

I really enjoyed my time with the cute cats and wish you the best for the rest of development. I'll definitely be back to find out what that cafes button does!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'll take your feedback and see what I can do, nice to meet another cat game dev also!

The sprite work on the cats are amazing! I love the little descriptions that come with each cat too. Can I adopt Gizmo?

Developer

Gizmo is one of my favorites too, glad you enjoyed it!

Hello VividEnigma. I tried playing your game and I must say that I've a weakness towards cats. I loved the font you used in the game description and inside the game. I saw that the tutorial is coming soon so I'll be waiting for it. I checked your account and if I'm not wrong I believe this is your first game so congrats and good luck! ☺️

Developer

Thank you so much for your feedback, this is my firs serious project I've worked on. More updates will be coming in the future including the tutorial menu, I'm glad you liked it!
