How does your game meet GBJam's theme
Monsters are gold as you get deeper in the dungeon they get older and stronger. Killing monsters drops gold that's how you mine.

Really good for your first finished project. The game has potential for a fun game if you work further on it!

Be sure to use "CPU particle emitters" those don't make the game freeze (I know godot stuff). The art is nice and cute you got some good skills into that!

I prefer when killing enemies that the gold magnetize towards the player cause now the gold somtimes got in a place where I couldn't reach (spikes).

nice looking game and it plays well!

  • the sprites and animations are pretty cool. i like how the enemies drop gold pieces and you have to collect them. it was a little frustrating when they fell into spike pits though.
  • it would be nice to have some sound effects and music. there were a lot of musicians looking for teams this year, so i’m surprised you couldn’t find anyone to help out with that.
  • nice tutorial area. the one other thing that could have been added in there was that you need to jump to go into a door, but it didn’t take much to figure that out.
  • found myself holding the run button 90% of the time. i think it might be good to just making running the default and maybe have walking tied to a button instead. or maybe walking isn’t even needed?
  • i also thought the secret passage in the pit was a neat addition. it seemed like the game froze for a few seconds after that happened so it might be good to speed that up if possible or show some kind of visual of the tunnel clearing while the player waits. i think more areas where you can dig would be a cool addition to the game also. either for more secret things or it could possibly a way to gate progression to make it sort of a metroidvania– like you need to get a certain type of weapon to dig through some rocks or whatever.
  • i finally got up to this area (that previous jump is tricky to land), but couldn’t figure out how i’m supposed to reach that higher platform. my guess is the hidden relic is up there, but it doesn’t seem like the player can jump that high.

pretty solid first game though! i can see potential for more levels and mechanics with the tent/shop area. nice job!

I think you have a strong foundation! I thought the movement was fun and using the enemies to boost to the relic was neat. Once you implement the other ideas, I think it'll have a nice gameplay loop.

Thank you for playing and dedicate a time for feedback! So you got the relic! So good to hear. This gameplay strikes good vibes for me I am preparing a second iteration for it \o/

I love the trail on the mining animation! super smooth. I like that you can run and how the main gameplay works, i just didnt understand how to get to the top part of the level if its possible. Also didnt know what to do with the gold or what to do in the tent. I did run into a similar bug like the other person in the comments where mining/attacking near certain objects made the game freeze/lag the player hard but for me it didnt crash, just sometimes made me lose my gold if i was near an enemy and  they hit me. Other feedback i have is that the enemy walking/normal animation looked a lot like a car to me, but i do really like the enemy attack animation.

Thank you for playing! To reach the top part you need to jump on top of the last mob, so instead of killing it you should use as ladder haha. The game right now is incomplete, I couldn't add the Store or the Chest. The initial idea was to have an inventory to collect things, sell, buy... Bed would be the game save and also where you comeback after dying. HAHA yeah I heard a couple times that the enemy looks like a car. Thanks for the great feedback

Oh wow is this really your first gamejam game? You were really ambitious and the crazy thing is, you set out to do most of what you had accomplished! The controls feel fun and responsive, even if I find using UP key to jump a bit awkward, but they were really great otherwise.

I did find that if I pressed the mining button in certain areas the game would slow down or crash and I'd have to restart, but that was rare and I eventually learned to just not - mine against the ground or walls.

This is very polished work for a first release. great job!

Hi Mcportugalem! You are so kind! I've started several unfinished projects on my on, but on game jams this is the first one that I've actually published.
Thanks for the feedback!
I agree that arrow keys for movement is  kind of weird...
If you could share a bit more about how to crash I would thank you. I couldn't find this one.

Although I solo dev, I've put a lot of effort during the jam period. I am so glad that you liked.

I wish there was audio! The game’s aesthetic is really well done. A boss battle would fit perfectly. It gives me strong metroidvania vibes. Great game! :)

Thank you for sharing drawtoit! I tried for a couple of hours to come up with a music on GBS, but it is way harder than I though haha. I plan to add a couple more content to this game and the boss battle is planned \o/

the art is lovely!!! actually EVERYTHING is lovely, i really really wish there was ANY audio at all, wouldve been the icing on this lovely cake!

Thank you Void_E I totally agree, I thought that a day would be enough to work on the music but I totally underestimated. Before working on new content the plan is to add music and sound effects first. Really glad that you liked it!
