Your Game's Inspiration

So here's a question: What did inspire you doing your game? If you've a lot of games feel free to tell different stories about them all!

Your inspiration could be of other game, book, movie, or a personal experience you had. Just share what jogged that idea in your mind 😅

Honestly, the idea came from how chaotic cooking can be. 😅

I’ve always loved games like Overcooked, but I also wanted to add the panic of trying to remember recipes while everything is happening at once. That “wait… was it tomato or mushroom?!” feeling became the whole concept.

So Recipe Frenzy is basically my love letter to messy kitchens, memory fails, and laughing through the chaos. 🥘

That mix of memory, pressure, and fun became the heart of Recipe Frenzy.

How curious! A topic whose host user uses Vanellope as its avatar (Wink wink, King Candy said that too), which easily leads me to what inspired me to create games.

It was simply after watching the movie Wreck-It Ralph. I made some fangames for the purpose of wanting to feel the daily life of those characters being in a videogame and hoping that the sequel would maintain my fascination (SPOILER: it didn't, a disappointment that led me to duality).

That's why my game that took the longest to develop has features reminiscent of that movie.

Many different sources: Sometimes when I play a game or see a movie i think: how can i do that myself? Sometimes i just imagine a fanficion/alternate events or an MC in a already existing universe (basically daydreaming XD). Then I just write the ideas down and develop them with more detail when i see fit.

Sometimes even real life, either history of civilizations/mythology or even the current global panorama (or at least the part i am aware from) help to create a lore or character with more weigh in their own universes (Kings/Queens of civilizations, how a fictional war started, Generals, resources disputes, etc.)

My game's inspiration is Contra series and similar games with same control scheme.

However, I also took inspiration from other games especially metroidvanias if I were making one.

Let me share the inspiration I had that drove me to start working on my upcoming project with Senna . One day I was in the metro and I saw some public signs then I thought: "Wait, how do they make these signs?". I know that this could be somewhat confusing, but when our game's prototype is out, I hope it gets all cleared up. 😅

My latest game Evorin is heavinlly heavily inspired by world of warcraft  i played that one for over 5 years

All right... For my latest game, COW-COW Remix, I got the inspiration of the core loop by a Mortal Kombat 1 minigame.

And using a cow... Well Months before I made a test on Godot. It was similar but with no power-ups.

I got inspired by Vampire: The Masquerade and some of my favorite gothic or Victorian-vibe songs

I get a small insparration and then build on it.One of my recent games: Sticky Ball is inspired by the run on wall block in super mario world and by sonic the hedgehog games but you probly wouldnt notice too much similarities if you played.

I'm a big fan of MechWarrior 2 (and 3). Mechwarrior 2 has a top-down satellite view that you normally don't use but it looks cool. So I made a mech game around that. Then I made a sequel inspired by the sequel to Mechwarrior 2: Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries.

I named them Navpoint Alpha and Navpoint Beta, because that's how the navpoints in the game are named. (Navpoint Gamma comes next.) A bit cheeky, but they are tributes to the original.

Mainly comes from real-life experience. Some experiences are very unique, you found yourself entered a very different state of mind everytime you experiencing them, and you kinda love that feeling. That's always the moment I began to abstract it spontaneously. Though I always didn't realise it happening for a long time, until met a chance and it just surging up inside me, together with all questions I've been thinking for a while and trying to answer, all works I always love to read or listen or watch or play, everything all mixed up, and turns into an urge to make a game. It keeps looping in your mind, and you have to make it in order to stop that looping.

A mix of playing Balatro, Slay the Spire, and old arcade games, combined with finding a concept sufficiently small for me to be able to pull off in my spare time, and with the energy available. I focused on enjoying the process, and I've been having fun working on it.
