Description
This is my submission to the Impressions Composing Jam: Ambience #4.

There's a long time that i haven't done one of these and i do want to be more active in jams from now on, so expect to see my name in future editions of the impressions jams as well.

Theme: Secret Lake.

I made 5 to 6 attempts in total trying to achieve what i had in mind and that's for sure the one that came closest. Also, i didn't knew about the "Special Constrainst" until like 5 days before the end of the jam, but i did them anyway. So i put some long notes -that i don't really know if they work as Drones- and tried to incorporate that good and old #4 for our beloved lydian mode.

Anyway, the VST's i used for this song were:

- Splice > Intimate Grand Piano

- Ample Percussion Cloudrum

- SGM Soundfont (Strings and Shakuhachi)

I couldn't mix it properly and i do hope to work better on it, but i also don't know much about mixing, so i'm open to as many tips and feedbacks you guys can give me.

Hope you like it! Because i had fun making it ;).

Very enjoyable and peaceful! I really enjoyed it. Really solid track you have here with the piano and strings plus the wind and water sounds. Honestly, it is very smooth! I like how it comes and fades like the wind, the melody that is. I like your instrument selection as well. Solid work here! I hope to see more of your work in future jams!

Really solid entry! The buildup is a bit too slow for my tastes, but other than that great job.

Really lovely piece here, great work.

The balance here is great! You introduced variety without breaking the ambient feel. It gives off a cozy, gathering-game atmosphere and comes through clearly. The compositions stay engaging throughout. The piano coming in at 2:25 is my personal favorite part.

Solid submission!

Very good and interesting approach, It feels like the track  have a hidden story underneath. You could work on the mixing side a little bit more to make everything sound more cohesive, like using EQ to make the instruments sound more natural, and adding some reverb. The piano sound is beautiful and well-mixed; it’s just the water sound and the main instrument that need a bit of tweaking. Overall, a very beautiful track.

The most gentle piece I've heard, it was very soothing and calm, really enjoyed the vibe and the chord progression, the end section reminds me of Runescape and its good memories.

Oh that's cool, thanks for the comment. I unfortunatly never played Runescape, but i really like to hear how it bringed these emotions for you, it actually means a lot for me lol.

Right around 0:40 it reminded me of Minecraft. The atmosphere is constructed well. The synth lead/flute/violin(?) could be made more present to make it sound more confident. The increasing agitation/movement towards the end was a pleasant shift. Great job overall!

Thanks for the feedback.

I actually noticed while i was listening to other submissions that i reduced the volume of the instruments quite a bit, which, as you said, kind of made them lost presence and it didn't sound as "wide" as i wanted.

Woah it really slaps once 2m09 hits. I think that part alone sells the track. Good ambience and the sound choice felt on theme. I could see bussing being potentially helpful to your mix, but that's just building off some of the other comments.

Sounds like something I'd hear in Minecraft... Very interesting. Great job making this Soundtrack!

Sounds great! I think you're right about the mixing, all the different instruments sound like they are different samples. I am also not a mix master but think you could mostly fix this with proper EQ and reverb adjustments, maybe some compression. Cool sound overall! The last minute when the arpeggio kicks in was the best part for me.

Thanks for the feedback. Also, i didn't  understand that well, when you say "all the different instruments sound like different samples" what do you mean by that? Hope you don't mind explaining oc.

Yeah of course! Not a very clear way to put it. All I meant is I can hear the individual character of the vsts, each is sampled in different rooms by different people and it's probably better to mix each voice so it sounds like they are together in the same room. My approach to this is usually tooling around with EQ and reverb on individual tracks, sections, and the master bus.

Oh, i never thought about that, i will for sure take a look on how to work around it. Thanks!
