How does your game meet GBJam's theme
The entire objective of the game revolves around literal gold! You are a thief breaking into rooms to hunt down gold ingots and unlock chests full of coins.

I think you should explain what the keyboard keys on the controls does A and B Buttons do. I tried to press any keys and it doesn't seemed to work.

Developer

it is A for A and B for B ...

Sneaky thief hunting for gold is a great setup, and the pixel art is really clean

I really enjoyed playing! I love the concept of a thief trying to break into rooms and track down gold. Its very RPG ha. The pixel art is solid and a very cool submission. Great work

Took me ages to realise that A and B are literally A and B, an odd choice for sure. But the game itself is interesting and I like how the levels get more complex. It reminded me a lot of old ZX Spectrum games in terms of vibe!

Developer

thankyou so much for trying it out!

Loved this! Literally rated it almost 5/5 on everything except sound since it doesnt have any. One big problem i have to mention is "B" didnt consistently work to hide the player, it was like very inconsistent/or maybe had to press another key at the same time for it to work. Really cool level design tho. LOVE the pixel art, the player sprite, enemy design and the animations were really cool. Overall really really cool game, and honestly really good game jam submission except for the B bug (got a score of 60 cause of it hahah)

i think it is because you can only hide behind pillars, so whenever you re around them only then it would work.

Altho, thankyou very much, this game was build in a bit of rush, that's why no sounds. THANKYOU SO much for trying it out and for such a positive review. <3

Ahhh i see I didnt know that, I thought the player overall had a hiding ability, like i thought it was an invisibility cloak type power instead of literal hiding, well thats my feedback then! explaining that with a one-line like you did the controls would have worked great! obviously using A for A and B for B was interesting but it was legit what it said on screen which is why i didnt complain about that before, only took like a minute to figure out and make sure it was right (main problem was the hiding not being explained honeslty, not the controls)

Having A be Enter and B be B certainly was a choice, I was button mashing my entire keyboard trying to find out which buttons did what. But other than that a nice little stealth game, got a final score of 300.

Thanks for trying it out!

It was my second game itself. So the mechanics might not be as good as the visuals are, the visuals are the best part about it because of my friend who helped alot genuinely.

Final score 285, I don't know how good that is but I'm still happy about it.

Nice looking entry, the visuals are definitely a high point. Everything feels very cohesive and true to the original console. The general mood also reminded me a lot  of "Hype the time quest", so thanks for the good memories.

I feel like your hitboxes (both for hiding and getting caught) may be a bit too generous : It's posible to hide a good dozen pixels passed a pillar. It made me second guess some really easy passages because I wasn't sure if I could grab a key without getting caught by a guard looking away from me.

Solid entry overall, too bad for the lack of sound.

Developer

That is great!

Visuals are indeed great, made by my really good friend who is genuinely super good in pixel art.

the hitboxes are indeed generous but maybe a bit too generous, i just wanted to keep the difficulty on an easier level and then i did not have much time to work on the mechanics that much as well.

About the sounds.. i dont have any experience with those, nor my friend does. So we decided to keep it without any sounds.

Authentic feel, great visuals. Took me a moment to realise hiding only occurred behind the pillars (even though it's written in the game info XD) I would love to have an incentive given to get all the gold in the level

Developer

Thankyou! This game was built in a bit of a rush, studies and life yk? That is why there's literally no guide or music or any incentive given.. :>
